There are a couple of Presidents, with possibly one additional characteristic, might have been great Presidents. Carter would have been better had he had leadership, administrative ability, and a backbone. Nixon is a tragedy. He had the mind to be a great President, but a lack of honesty, paranoia, a hunger for power, and a disregrd of the Constitution caused his downfall. Very sad indeed.

Now this is a list I can agree with.
No way in world was George W worse than Carter or Obama.

Ford is an interesting one. When he was president and immediately afterwards people seemed to think he was a bad president, but as history has moved forward people seem to think better of him.

You are correct my Ky. friend. You are just like my Ky. wife, pointing out when I'm wrong, have to watch those Ky. people or I'm going to have to get things correct the first time.

    Barack Obama
    Jimmy Carter
    Dwight Eisenhower
    Lyndon Johnson
    John F. Kennedy
    George W. Bush
    Franklin Roosevelt
    Bill Clinton
    Richard Nixon
    Gerald Ford
    George H.W. Bush
    Harry Truman
    Ronald Reagan

Dwight Eisenhower leads the way as the worst for the GOP as Barack Obama as the worst for the Dems.

Nixon. He opened up the doors to trade with China (in spite of their human rights violations) and look where we are today. He also was responsible for "managed health care" in which insurance companies started making a "profit" from health insurance. Before then, health insurance was not-for-profit.

Obama is the worst president in my life time, however, so I can't exclude him. Besides, he called me a "terrorist" and his "enemy" and wants people to "bring a gun to the fight." Yes, as a taxpayer and an American, I do take those remarks personal - he is supposed to represent ALL Americans in that office!

Moving ahead....Next on the Dem side would be tie between Carter and Johnson. I have more respect for Carter's and Johnson's wives than for the men. I have no respect at all for Michelle for many, many reasons and I am certainly not proud of her as a representative of my country (which she was not proud of).

    Funny.

Obama has most of the same qualities as Nixon, a lack of honesty, paranoia, a hunger for power, and a disregard of the Constitution.

History will also improve the standing of George W. Bush, just as it has worsened Carter's and improved Truman's.

No president was more reviled or slandered by the media than W. The drumbeat was constant...and he never responded. He's a classy guy that is comfortable being who he is. Many people not quite so sure of themselves, hated that about him. Still do.

A lot of people bought everything the media said about him, as demonstrated by anyone here who says he is worse than Obama or Carter. Hate is a powerful emotion and Bush haters just can't get past their indoctrination and get at the truth.

One would have to say they are blinded by their hate.

Who was the best? Reagan, not because of his politics, but because of his character. Hands down. Clinton could have been next if he hadn't had the morals of an alley cat and hadn't been such an habitual liar.

For the Democrats I think it's a choice between LBJ or Carter. LBJ was certainly a schemer and he rightly deserves blame for Vietnam. But he also did much for which he deserves commendation. Carter on the other hand none of LBJ's faults but enjoyed few successes.

For Republicans the choice is easy. Nixon may have been a skunk, but George W. Bush was quite simply one of the worst presidents in American history.
