After evaluating my posts of the last couple of weeks I have come to the conclusion that I need to step away from any political discussions, at least for a while.

I don't like what they are doing to my spirit or my feelings toward my brothers and sisters in Christ.

If I have offended you I apologise for things that I know were not always posted in a Christ-like spirit. I have posted with a 'must-win' spirit and even considered in my heart that some are lying in their posts. That is wrong and I ask you to forgive me.

I will read replies to my current posts, but won't be responding. Enjoy your discussions, maybe we will see you in November :)

Wish you would reconsider. These are tough times, having to choose between a liberal and ultra liberal. Standards are out the door. What is sad is that if Reagan was running against Romney in a general election, these same ones would be treating Romney like they do Obama now. President Kennedy was more conservative than the last four or five Republican candidates.

If you had negative feelings you sure hid them well.

I can't say that I have seen anything posted by you that was other than polite.

Take a few days off and see if you feel differently.

You make a positive contribution here.

    I'm thirding it.

Based on the content posted here I presume many people here start their day by reading the Drudge Report, then tuning into Glen Beck, then Rush, then Hannity. This leads to a zeitgeist on BB of a far right perspective.

This board needs an outsider's perspective like yours.

In the past I've called people on this after seeing drudge headlines replicated in multiple posts. Those who are doing it say they aren't but it is pretty obvious.

This whole forum is exactly what many predicted at the outset of President Obama's term, nothing more than post after post railing against the Democrats and President for no good reasons. The birther embarrassment continues and anyone not holding a reactionary view of things is suddenly an abortion loving, pot smoking, Obama supporting liberal according to some. The anti-intellectual climate is accelerating and I have little hope that it will get better soon.

I'd encourage you to stick around C4K. You're doing just fine.

    Roger,
These posters are right. You contributed a lot. You are an independent thinker which is rare. Mostly on here, you either have Republican apologists, Democratic apologists, or people who copy and paste, as one poster said, the Drudge Report.

I want to thank each of you for those kind words, and upon reflection I may not stay out all the way till November.

I do need to take some time to pray and reflect. I'll tell you how I came to that conclusion.

A couple of weeks ago I was preaching from Phillipians 2 where Paul describes how we are to live as lights in this 'crooked and perverse generation. In that passage he speaks of how we are to be both blameless and harmless. I had to ask myself if, by being involved in what are sometimes rather volatile debates with fellow Christians I was being both blameless and harmless. When I argue to make a point or to get in the last word am I blameless for how my brother or sister responds? When I get in a little dig or subtle comment am I bringing harm to the cause of Christ? When the lost or weak Christians read this discussions are my words bringing blame or causing harm?

I need to take some time to consider that, though it might not be November :)

I haven't noticed anything, either in CK4's posts or anything resembling the "far right". As far as the "birther' issue goes people on the left and the right have supported that issue. In fact it was first brought up by Democrats.

I am not excited that you responded to me and then closed the thread. Kind of rude.

I haven't closed any threads. I don't moderate that forum. In fact, in all the years I have been moderating I have never edited or closed a thread or used any administrative tools where I was involved in the debate. I don't think that is ethical on the part of a moderator to do so.
