Matt. 18 Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (WEB)

With the Internet I saw an opportunity to reach people from all around the world and have done my best to use this opportunity for Jesus. Because I have chosen to work on the Web as well as in the prison units and on my job, I have been blessed. The problem is that it is not enough! People read my messages, sit in my classes, praise God and Jesus with me on Sunday Morning and on Monday they live like Hell until next Sunday Morning.

Every follower of Jesus is responsible for the fulfillment of the verses listed above, the Great Commission. Jesus has commanded those that love Him to make disciples, and if we do not, ask yourself, am I really His? We call Father God Our Father in Heaven but live like we admire Satan.

When my Birth Father denied me and my mother blew him off, looking for a brighter future a remarkable little man of five foot three and a half came along and to this day he is my dad. He came along and picked me up, showed me love and gave me direction for my life... he is my hero. Because he joined the Army the day after the attack on Pearl, I joined the Army. Everything I did was to make him proud and to never disappoint him.

If Father God is our Heavenly Father, He deserves even more devotion than I gave to my Dad. Jesus said that we would obey Him if we love Him and here He has commanded us to perform only one task.

The problem is that a lot of pastors want a job and want an easy fix to creating nickels and noses. Discipleship is hard work. There are seminaries who want nothing to do with the real task of making disciples. It does nothing to build an image and create an academic institution of books and scholars.

Jim Putnam has written some very good books on what he is doing in the church he leads.

That is also a very large portion of what is wrong today. Rick Warren of Saddleback writes a lot of books also and peoploe follow him and I personally have seen that destroy twtwenty-seven solid Christian Church Families. Everything we need to know to succeed in the Christian Life is found in the first thirty-nine books of the Bible and the final twebty-seven are the life apploicatio n methods of application to our lives.

That does not even come close to what is wrong today. The main problem is one of laziness. When you read Putnam's books you will have to humble yourself because he only writes about one thing--making disciples not misleading people to think that a Bible study is discipleship. I have been making disciples for almost 40 years and find him be right on in his approach. He leads a church in making disciples not in leading the blind in programs. In his church nobody leads until they have proven themselves in making disciples.

Get the facts straight. Your friends did not know their Bible very well to have been misled by anyone.

For about the last 100 years the Christian church has almost completely ignored a study of Judaism--the historical context of much of what Jesus taught and said.

The Bible gives little evidence of what it meant to be a disciple under a rabbi and how that would be used to interpret what Jesus said in John 15:16 to his disciples. The OT gives none.

Your approach is the same as one Satan uses. Do not make statements if you are afraid to be challenged. You have posted in the section Baptist DEBATE Forums (Baptist Only).
