Are there any Primitive Baptists on this forum?

I had a good PB friend here years ago by the name of Jeff Weaver. I have been able to make contact with him; last I heard from him, he was in very bad health.

Strange as it seems, being so far apart theologically, I have had good relationships with PB's. They have been much less abrasive and accusatory than many Southern Baptist Calvinists I have known.

I've known a few Primitive Baptists over the years. While we don't see eye to eye on many things we've enjoyed good fellowship together.

Perhaps the problem you have with the Calvinists is that you come in with a defensive posture because you're expecting to be attacked because of your doctrinal beliefs. Although, I will admit, the atmosphere here is less than collegial most of the time. Not too many folks here adopt the "we can agree to disagree" stance, they'd rather duke it out and leave plenty of blood on the field of battle.

My understanding is that Primitive Baptists hold that people may be saved independently of the gospel.

If I'm wrong, I am open to correction.

PBs in general don't interpret 'saved' (sozo) to mean born from above, and hold that His sheep are totally passive in that birth. When a 'lost sheep' is brought into the fold, then they are 'saved' (read delivered).

I thought you might be. You have not called me an apostate, or heretic, or accused me of things which I am not guilty of.

Guess I can throw OldRegular out, though, as being unrepresentative.

Why in a thread about a Primitive Baptist you are looking for do you need to take a sideswipe at SBC calvinists?

I am honored, thrilled, and humbled that you seem to hang on my every word, seeking to find a place to interject your vitriol against me personally.

I was simply pointing out a fact: There has been a great difference between how PBs have responded to me and how many-- not all -- SBC Calvinists have. That is not a sideswipe; that is the truth.

You mean as abrasive and ill-spirited as the comment that you just made? Why is it "vitriol" when someone points out blatant hypocrisy?

Okay, I am reporting you, and I want everyone to look at your post as a prime example of what I have been talking about.

I attacked no one personally on this forum or anywhere else with the post you quoted. But you have not only done that to me with your post, you have written an outright lie.

Do not respond to me again. There are many words I could use to perfectly describe what you are, but there's no need.

Wrenn, I'm not a Calvinist or SBC, but you need to chill out. You are acting like a big baby.

Tad was right on. You can claim to be a victim for having the truth of the matter pointed out, but your posts (asserting to be about PB in the thread opener) are clearly made with an anti-calvinist agenda, and you took a swipe at everyone who holds to the doctrines of grace. Report away, but I'll stand by my observations.

I have been advised not to retaliate verbally, but to hit the report button -- so, will do.

Another lie. Clearly you need to brush up on your reading skills.

Doctrines of grace? Oh, you mean all Christians since all Christians hold to the doctrines of grace.

As I have said, I was pointing out the difference between how PBs and many SBC Calvinsists have responded to me here.

I like and respect Primitive Baptists, so that also proves your post to be a lie.

Oh, it won't be as much fun as would be if I could engage you verbally, or in a ring, but sadly it will have to suffice.
