    Mining for votes.

Simply another case in which the chief law enforcement officer in the U.S. decides not to enforce the law. Another power grab by the president, usurping the powers of Congress.

The cowards in Congress seem powerless to stop this criminal activity.

Yes I agree. I have written all of my Representatives about this calling for them to put a stop to this unconstitutional move. If they hear from enough people perhaps something will be done.

"There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President."

I agree with what the President is doing; it's about time we give these hard-working people a path to citizenship.

Agree. Young people who were born here, grew up here and are contributing to our society should not be punished. If all the so called illegals were deported many companies would collapse, many restaurants would go out of business, almost all lawn services would be left with no employees, the price of your food would go up dramatically ... no one to pick the crops etc., etc., etc.

    Okay,
Suppose we let those kids stay - under one condition - the parents must be sent home first ?

It is obvious from some in this thread that the far left cares nothing about the rule of law. Apparently they want to do what ever is necessary to obtain their agenda even if it means ignoring the constitution such as with Obamacare, ignore our borders and legal entry into this country, misuse the executive order, ignore which ever laws they do not like this admin has done numerous times, and vote for a President that says they cannot use executive orders in this way but does it anyhow, and ignore voting laws in order to gain illegal votes.

How about we deport them all and obey the law with no exceptions?

I agree with you but there is one thing. George Bush did the same thing (violating the constitution and laws after 911) in other areas and no republican that I know of who complained.
Sort of a double standard wouldn't you say? Or as the bible says being a respecter of persons.

You are very confused. This is not about those who have been born here. Those who are born here do not need papers or some special pass! This is for those who are 16 to 30 year olds who have come here illegally.

By "no republican," do you mean no congressman, governor, or other political figure? Because there were several of us here on the board that complained.

To clarify (clarity is good!) Obama said it would be wrong for him to sign an executive order to suspend deportations. Obama did not sign an executive order. The change in policy was formulated by Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano, Obama was merely announcing the change in policy. Basically Homeland Security is using "prosecutorial discretion". Translation: they are not going to enforce the law.

Wrong again. The qualifications are more stringent than that. They won't be deported if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, and graduated from a U.S. high school, or earned a GED, or served in the military.

Yes I know that, but I was not giving the qualifications. I was not trying to list everything. I was correcting what was said about them being born here which was incorrect.
By the way I am still in favor of deporting them ALL or offer them a, if they meet the conditions mentioned, a special green card where they have to register every year or within 10 days of any move for the rest of their lives, pay a 1000.00 dollar a year fee for their paper work, always be employed, never be able to hold any political office, local, state, or federal, never allowed to own a fire arm, never be eligible for any grants or government money including welfare and can never become a citizen. If they are ever arrested for any criminal offence they would be deported on conviction. If they agree to these things then I would agree they should be allowed to stay, but if not leave or be arrested put in prison and then deported with no hope of ever returning even for a visit.

I think it would be better and more productive if we deported all the politicians in this country and started all over again with a limited constitutional government.

I'm sure that after the first couple years of re-adjustment people would be all the happier and safer for it.
