    Howdy!

I am a college student at Texas A&M, and I plan on going into pastoral ministries. I have been scouring the Internet for internships and have not come up with much so far. Thus, my question is this: does anyone know of a pastoral internship program geared toward college students who have not yet graduated.

I want to start developing the skills that I will need now so that I may be as well-equipped as possible to lead and minister to my future congregation.

I do plan on going to seminary, and I am currently studying the Ancient Greek language as part of my Classics major.

To any of you who respond, I thank you.

At our church, we have one young man who is doing pastoral studies interning. Usually our interns are from in-house so maybe check your home church?

Exactly. You should be in a solid local assembly...seeking to minister an exercise whatever gifts you have. If God has gifted you ,it will be made known in time. Bilble studies, nursing home, prison ministries are there for you to serve.

I know this is not exactly what you asked about but if you really want to be able to lead a congregation in the word I suggest that you check this out and move if you have to for the time needed to complete everything.

I am deeply involved with a church while school is in session, but because of certain extenuating circumstances, I have been forced to move to Pennsylvania during the breaks.

I am not from Pennsylvania, and I am staying with my aunt and uncle there; while they have lovingly taken me into their house and have "adopted" me in a certain sense, several problems have arisen.

Firstly, the number of staunchly evangelical, Bible-believing churches are scarce in this area of the country; moreover, the number of people who are truly passionate about serving Christ is still more grim. I could go on to remark about the lack of intellectual engagement, the absence of people who affirm the inerrancy of Scripture, and so on and so forth, but I shall abstain.

In short, although my aunt, uncle, and I have visited several churches, we have not really been able to find one that is doctrinally solid.

As a result, I am not nearly as plugged-in to a local congregation as I would like. If anyone has any recommendation on how to amend this problem as well, I would be happy to hear it.

I have thought about going to Master's Seminary, along with SBTS and DTS, but the main reason why I am attending Texas A&M is that I felt called to pursue studies there; furthermore, God has blessed me with a full-ride scholarship to attend school there.

Such overwhelming provision, especially given my past, has warped my entire life. While I would leave in a heartbeat if I felt that God wanted me elsewhere, I cannot act contrariwise to where God's hand has led me.

I do thank you for your input, and I will prayerfully consider the option that you have proposed.

    Internships:

    * Church staff positions whether it be children, youth, other, you can learn pastoral ministries.

    * Work within the church. Do different positions. It will grow.

    * Consider a summer missions position.

    * Pennsylvania has a lot of opportunity to start a church/house bible study.
