I want to have a corner in my classroom this year with an open cabinet displaying vintage school supplies.

Here's what I am going to round up. What else can you think of when you think of vintage school supplies. I'm talking as recent as the 1970's all the way back to the American Revolution.

    [a] a cigar box
a plaid satchel (if you know that was - with the plastic handle)
    [c] Big Chief writing tablet
    [d] vintage school pictures

    Thanks

Well, I recently visited a schoolhouse replicated in an area where Laura Ingalls Wilder stayed for a while.

They had an old Sears catalog, a book opened to a section that taught about hygiene, and different types of "medications" and cotton balls. I can't remember what was in the jars, but it would be easy to replicate some stuff with harmless colored water in old looking bottles and label it as first aid stuff for cuts, tummy aches, etc..

There were small dictionaries too...old ones. Guess they didn't have as many words back then!

They also had the desks set up with the type of reader they used, a writing board (looks like a little chalk board) and such. Maybe you could have just one small desk like that, set up with supplies like that.

How about a high school year book? Possibly your own.

Remember, pre-1970 - all the girls wore dresses and the senior pictures had the boys in dress shirts and ties

One of those Palmer Method charts thumbtacked over the blackboard. A chalk holder for making lines or staffs.
