Am I the ONLY diabetic on terra firma? :tear:

I have yet to come across a "chain" restaurant that has diabetic (sugar-less) selections for its dessert/appetizers menu. :tear:

If ANYBODY knows of either a national or regional chain (i.e., round about Nashville) that does, please let me know!! :tear:

Well as a fellow diabetic & traveler I know its difficult, i have struggled with this for years. Ive adjusted my diet to large salads & protean (like eggs in the morning. Our biggest fight is carbs. There in the North East is a chain called Ruby Tuesdays that offers large salad bars....but I dont know if they are down south.

Now if your a protean/meat guy then order a steak now & again....skip the potatoes (tear) but sub that with salad. And every once and a while, pasta (Preferably whole wheat with higher fiber content) & cooked al dente / not overcooked is OK (preferably with some good turkey meatballs). Good luck...it is a struggle.

    Blessing!

oh come on.....when I was working as a diabetic educator.....I received (I kid you not ) pamphlets from that chain that does hamburgers (predigested) on diabetic friendly burgers. I trashed it immediately after getting a good giggle out of it.

I find the burgers by that particular chain do not really involve much in the way of chewing etc. It is interesting that you are hungry within a short time of consuming one OR it might be I just find them revolting...not real food at all:laugh: IMHO.

Sorry for the long delay in replying to you, but I do appreciate your answer(s).

Actually there is a Ruby Tuesdays not too far from where I live, and I've eaten there ONCE.

While the entree menu seemed to be OK, my biggest complaint with that particular place is that their salad bar's "Cough Shield" (or whatever it's called) certainly was NOT designed with tall people with back problems!!

I mean at this particular place the glass shield extended to almost 3" above the salad selection offerings!!

And, to make matters worse, the selections that I wanted were placed at the most inward spots along the salad bar.

Now, I don't know if EVERY Ruby Tuesdays has such a configuration on its salad bar, but this particular one did--which, to me at least, is a DEFINITE NEGATIVE.

Also, not to be nicky-picky but, is your "protean" something different than the standard English word "protein"?

Again, I'm not trying to be nicky-picky, but with the modern day proliferation of diet-related terms it could very well be that what you wrote as "protean" might something completely different than "protein."
