Ah yes, trying to recast Jefferson as a Christian. Typical FotF fodder. This same Jefferson who wrote: "And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter."

Mandy loves to throw false allegations. Here is the link to the letter from Jefferson to John Adams from the letters of Jefferson stored at the University of Virginia.

The entire letter is quite interesting, but the quote is near the end.

I would expect a gentleman would apologize for calling me a liar. We will see if Mandy has the courage to do so.

MP, bringing up facts is an unfair debate tactic.

I watched the video - loved the imaging of the cross on the National Mall. I didn't really get the significance of superimposing the cross, but I watched it,

By the way, Jefferson also said that 'Paul was the first corrupter of the doctrines of Christ.' LINK

Trying to turn Jefferson into a Christian is possible the greatest travesty of Christian Revisionism. In that same link he refers to the 'roguery' of the disciples.

If you take out the Jefferson Memorial you can't make a cross. What does that do to the proposed walk about?

I know, doggone it. What was I thinking C4K? Facts are troublesome things.

Jefferson was in no was what we would describe as a Christian in today's terms. He also edited the Bible to remove much of the supernatural parts with which he disagreed. Yet to listen to the revisionists, you'd think he was a fundamentalist Baptist preacher.

I do find Mandy's knee-jerk reaction accusing me of posting a false quote without any knowledge whatsoever as amusing as I find his subsequent silence on the matter.

Awesome! Thanks for that link. I have thought about reading this, but never got around to looking for it.

Interesting that it also omits the resurrection. It ends thusly:
61 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
62 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
    63 There laid they Jesus,
64 And rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and
    departed

    $0.99 on KINDLE

    Talk about a surprise ending!!

By the way, did anyone notice the vague way God is referred to on that cross walk? Why do we so rarely read about Jesus on those monuments?

    Ha !

Americans only like baby Jesus in the manger scenes. Well, until the Catholics came and put him back on the cross. We also like to see pictures of Jesus holding children, and feeding sheep. And fluffy Christians also like to see the Beautitudes plastered everywhere. Of course, not too much about what his real message was.....

    It should be.

Nothing you've said detracts from the point of the article.

You just don't get it and never will. So , why bother?

Mandy, you revalidated the quote. I never used the first sentence, nor said it was Jefferson's. Still waiting. Of course, you will not admit your mistake and move on, nor apologize for inferring I was untruthful in citing the (accurate) quote.
