Romney just makes too many of these mistakes. Good grief, he has no sensibility about other people. Can you imagine what a foreign relations disaster he might pull with unthinking remarks if he were president? Of course now he is back peddling, but the damage has been done.

Is this supposed to be Romney's big blunder?

There is nothing right or left in this topic. It is an example of a person who is making a trip to Europe to show what an expert he is on foreign affairs and showing how insensitive he is when talking to or about other countries.

This may or may not reflect on his knowledge of foreign affairs, but it certainly is not what you want a president, any president ... or presidential candidate doing, namely going to another country and then insulting them.

I thought the British Prime Minister's reply was quite apt and rather funny.

Maybe we should start a new thread following the gaffs Romney makes on this trip. Seems there are already a number of them.

In Europe there were lots of jokes about G. Bush's gaffs, mispronouncings and the slaughter of the English language when he was in office. I can see that Romney is already giving them lots of ammunition and he isn't president yet ... and he certainly is not improving the generally held European image of Americans as being unsophisticated, bumbling ignorant folk. Thanks Mitt.

Tell us when they equal the number of threads you've started and then ran away.

Troll, how about a rational reply.

Are you proud of his gaffes?

Oh, so you CAN read. You sure do leave a lot of questions. Rational ? It's impossible to have a rational conversation with someone who won't stick around.

Is Obama someone you would say represents a good standard of decorum abroad ? That is a pretty rational question. How about a rational answer ?

I take it that the point is neither one of these guys do a great job of representing the US abroad. When President Obama gave the silly gifts to the Queen he was lambasted here - what Governor Romney just did was similar. I really wouldn't want either one of them representing the US.

Who's point is that ? It doesn't seem to be the O/P's author's. If he can throw in Bush, then why can't he answer about the zero ?

I'm still trying to figure out what Romney's big blunder was.

I contend that is the point - we have watched years of criticising every little thing that President Obama does wrong, sometimes to the distraction of his serious flaws.

I content that the author of the OP is trying to show that if we are going to pick at every dumb mistake the president makes we should do the same for Governor Romney.

The truth is that both have the potential to embarrass America, but what we should be focusing on is the real issues they have instead of the petty stuff.

Britain are a key US ally - to publicly question the UK's preparation for the Olympics is to embarrass one of our best friends in the world.

Petty? Yes, but so much of the criticism of the president is just as petty. We don't need to focus on the pettiness of such issues for either candidate.

I can't believe this, Roger. You never come in when he's insulting our wives, or saying we worship money.

I contend if that's what he's saying, then that's what he should say. I also contend it makes him look extremely weak for you to have to bail him out. Again, something you would never do if the shoe was on the other foot.

No bail out. Just what I have perceived from the numerous posts. They remind me of the silliness that takes place here all the time, just now from another perspective.
