    The article puts spin on a rather innocuous order. This is similar to the same order for Hispanic students signed by previous Republican and Democratic presidents. The sentence quoted is truncated to help spin the article.

    To read the verbiage in context, take a read of the full order. Its goals are laudable. The scare tactics and race baiting of the OP article are typical GOP behavior.

    I *shudder* in finding myself defending President Obama, but MP is right, mandym. Here is the quote (in red) from your link in its entire context from MP's link (in black).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "To help expand educational opportunities, improve educational outcomes, and deliver a complete and competitive education for all African Americans, the Initiative shall, consistent with applicable law, promote, encourage, and undertake efforts designed to meet the following objectives:
    .
    .
    .
    .
    (vi) reducing the dropout rate of African American students and helping African American students graduate from high school prepared for college and a career, in part by promoting a positive school climate that does not rely on methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools, and by supporting successful and innovative dropout prevention and recovery strategies that better engage African American youths in their learning, help them catch up academically, and provide those who have left the educational system with pathways to reentry;..."
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I don't see anything in that executive order that says what the link in the OP says about punishing the majority for the minority's behavior.

    Someone just slam made that part up out of thin air.

    Dd you see the executive order itself? I have not seen it. We do see how Obama characterizes it which has no credibility.

    From the article in the op:

    Which means that if more black students are suspended than whites then they will have been deemed as having done it wrong regardless of whether or not the students deserved the suspension.

    I did read - all of it - MP provided a link to it in his post. The quote in my first post was copied from the executive order. It's quite long and almost put me to sleep, but I did read the whole thing.

    This concern the state of Maryland according to the OP. The underlined part is what the state of Maryland actually has said.

    Maryland wants its school systems to "track" the number of disciplinary actions against minorities, special education students, and non-minorities to check for disparities. There is nothing wrong with that. And they want the disparities to decrease. There is nothing wrong with that.

    Certainly they don't need to look ONLY at the raw number of suspensions. Other mitigating factors that might make minorities incur more suspensions include a lot of things that school systems cannot control.

    Here is the initial verbiage:
    Executive Order -- White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans

    EXECUTIVE ORDER

    - - - - - - -

    WHITE HOUSE INITIATIVE ON EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
    FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS

    By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, to restore the country to its role as the global leader in education, to strengthen the Nation by improving educational outcomes for African Americans of all ages, and to help ensure that all African Americans receive an education that properly prepares them for college, productive careers, and satisfying lives, it is hereby ordered as follows:

    If Obama cared anything about "African Americans" why doesn't he promote school vouchers in DC. This person is the ultimate narcissist! He cares about nothing other than his own being!

    You, a Southern Baptist ask that question? School vouchers? School vouchers? Man, don't you know that it has been Baptist through the 20th Century who fought tooth and nail to prevent school vouchers. School vouchers was pushed by the RCC for their schools.

    Well, just more proof that the SBC is no longer Baptist except in name only.

    I believe there is something wrong with it. Why do we need to look at this at all except to minimize and create victims where there are none. Which is what the left does.
