Given what seems to be a dramtic uptick in pushing or defending homosexual practice, what are your general thoughts about the future of this issue, especially as it applies to our local churches.

I generally thing this is just going to escalate to the point where many churches will cave, and those that don't will face increased hostility.

Here's a few recent developements to refresh your memory:

-2007 - Only one prime-time Gay character on TV, Now at least 18.
-JC Penny, Target, Carrie Underwood, and many others throwing support behind Gay marraige.
-Chic-fil-a owner being maligned for simple statements supporting biblical marriage
-Andy Stanley saying "something" about the issue.
-A Secular study merely suggests that children of Traditional male-female marraiges have significantly less problems than those of non-traditional families...the scientist (non-christian) who published the study is immediately attacked in the media for suggesting such a thing.

Where is this all leading us? Will it settle down, or will it force a divide between those churches that support and oppose the homosexual agenda?

think will become a key dividing line in the sand for churches in America!

Will we fall in line for the "cultural mandate", or else stay true to the Word of God!

Why do you assume that what we are experiencing now is "MORE" then what has been experienced in the long history of Christianity? What exactly are you afraid of, that we are experiencing something that has never impacted the church or been an issue?

Come now, widen your lens of history and in doing so I believe you will find comfort from the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end the end and culmination of all history.

What IS different is that the Christian Church on the whole held that Homosexual behavior was eviate, a sinful lifestyle! Now its being reclassified, as many churches buy that it an acceptable way to live, even ordaining pastors, who do gay marriages!

I don't think that homosexuality will ever be broadly accepted as anything otherthing as a bizarre and unusual way of existing...primarially from most Christian communities. Examine the evidence ...homosexuals cannot Procreate! Therefore their lives are already a bit sad & depressing. Yea rhey may attempt to emulate normal people by adoption etc...but they know. That its synthetic at best...so sorry if I don't get all worked up.

Your insulation should be how you raised the kids....right!

The more attention we give to homosexuality, the broader will be its acceptance.

A doctor in my village is lesbian. She grew up on the mission field to baptist parents. Her mother virtually disowned her. I visit this doctor and her friend at their home, and we can talk freely without offending. I don't compromise my beliefs and have got them attending the local Anglican church. We still discuss the Christian beliefs. They don't parade what they are in public, and it doesn't affect her medical practice.
It has been around for many years, but went underground in the last 200 years. The grandfather on the Walton's TV show was gay and even lived with his gay partner. He never displayed it on the show, but all the other actors knew it, and no one made a big deal out of it. To-day, they even had a telly show that had a gay muslim in a show...openly!

I would not allow it in any church office, but I would welcome the people to attend church.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Sum it up in one word, "compromise."

I agree, but it is troubling when up til recently seemed to be solid christian churches have now "officially' given support to that as a valid alternative lifestyle, that its "un Christ like" to condemn that as being sinning!

Have you read 1 and 2 Corinthians? There were problems related to sexuality from the beginning. All this "the sky is falling" nonsense is not only detrimental to establishing relationships with people that may lead to them expressing faith in God through Christ, but it shows a tremendous lack of faith in God on the whole.

Maybe, but it is wise to recognize what the particular challenges of each generation are, and prepare to be wise in our dealing with them. Each age has its own issues that come to the forefront, and while homosexuality has always been around, the radical redefining of marriage has not been.

I'm not calling for people to batten down the hatches and don't let in the gays...I'm simply saying that we need to think hard about what our response will be, rather than try to ignore the issue and either pretend it doesn't affect people we know, or simply bash homosexuals.

I'm not being doom & gloom, I'm simply saying that it seems like if recent trends continue, most churches are going to be confronted about his issue and be forced to give some sort of response.

Again, society may or may not view gay lifestyle as being a valid alterante way to live, but the church ALWAYS condemned that as living contary to the bible!

Today, its being redefined by church pastors/teachers leaders as being now valid and living as God wanted, IF one opposses that, said to be either a Homophob, deny love of God, or not adapting the bible to modern views and understanding!

or else saying that the Bible, like paul, only was against 'bad" relationships, those who would be physically or verbally abusive, NOT against "loving couples!"

This has a makings of a made up problem, more then a real problem say - people not eating. But people not eating doesn't get out the voters nor does it fill the coffers of talk show hosts who need something to scream about in order to make a living.

I really don't care what another group or church does regarding homosexuality. I'm Baptist and that means each church gets to decide for themselves, even if that decision is in conflict with my beliefs.

I will serve faithfully where I am, I have enough real challenges here without worrying about somebody else in someplace else I will never go.

You are missing the real issue. It is not homosexuality or the church caving to it. The church has already caved to unrighteousness.

the liberal side of it has, just saying that we need to make our "line in the sand', and state that the conservative churches will NOT cave in on this issue!

    Legal Homosexuality...It's Coming

Yes, The so-called "gay" agenda is being made legal one fast step after another right before our very eyes. I'm providing a link to an article David Cloud first published back in August of 2008 and recently updated. It is long but it is one of the best articles I have seen on the subject of what is being played out today on the gay marriage issue. I strongly recommend that everyone read and heed it. Obama and his crowd (liberals,baby-killing murders, and queers)seem determined to ram this stuff down our throats and dis-enfranchise Christians in general. I'm gonna make a bold statement..."YOU CANNOT BE A "BIBLE-BELIEVING CHRISTIAN WHO IS IN A RIGHT-STANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND BE EITHER "GAY"(QUEER) OR BE A DEMOCRAT". Neither are compatible with Biblical Christianity nor even can or will be! Here is Bro.Cloud's article...pay close attention to the scriptures that he supports his views with:

What Will Be Illegal When Homosexuality is Legal | Homosexuality

I don't think a person can be a bible believing Christian in right relationship with God the Father who calls people names such as "queers." This is why I say there is no or very few conservatives. Moderates yes, conservatives , I don't think so.

I hardly think it is unchristian to discuss with a homosexual Scripture & it's clear teaching however like any other do it in such a way as you emphasize your love for them. Your always tryingto bring the sin to light...no matter the sin. Most homosexuals I've spoken to have addmitted to not wanting to be homos, that their lives would be less complicated if they weren't Gay. However they also tell me they're driven to the same sex as you & I are driven to the opposite sex. So how do you respond to that? I honestly don't know but you as a practicing Christian can't very well condone it. Frankly it revolts me but I will not become a "hater" just because I veiw them as abnormal. Quite the reverse ... im commanded to love the sinner & hate the sin.
