How many would do something that actually involved work, rather than buying a chicken sandwich?

Again, another Christian who has not read his Bible I see...

FEED THE HUNGRY, CLOTHE THE NAKED, SHELTER THE HOMELESS, COMFORT THOSE IN DISTRESS.

"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come,
ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world:

"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty,
and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

"Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I
was in prison, and ye came unto me.
    (Matthew 25:34-36 KJV)

Or perhaps you are asking where it says to buy a chicken sandwich. It doesn't.

    Lets see............. In recent weeks.......

Helped prepare full meals, each night for the kids and workers at VBS.

Helped prepare and transport meals to a World Changers group in a nearby community.

Picked up food donation from a national grocery chain store to restock our food pantry.

Donated both time and transportation to pick up supplies for our Fellowship Hall.

Supported CFA by buying and giving sandwiches to a needy person.

Repaired and stained the handicapped access ramp at church.

Contacted 10 MIA church and/or Sunday school members urging them to return.

Took donated goods to a battered women's shelter.

Took a lady to the hospital for medical tests, when her ususal person wasn't available.

Those are some of the ones that come to mind, as I type.

MP, since you asked. What have you done in recent weeks to help someone else?

Yes but that does not say we are to use food banks and homeless shelters. That is speaking of the times we meet people in those conditions and we feed them or give them a place to sleep, not run food banks and homeless shelters. There is no such command as you are trying to suggest.
    2Thess 3:10
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
The idea is we are to show compassion on those who are in real need, not be a welfare system for the lazy.

The vehicle is not relevant. The commands of Jesus ARE.

Were there lines down the street to work with you?

I applaud your efforts. I also do many such things, but refuse to seek glory for myself by enumerating them.

Well we obey them. Your accusation is false as we do feed those who are hungry and clothe them and give them a place to rest. Do you serve at some shelter or pantry?

Yes, as a matter of fact, many that I work with in various ministries were in those lines. Several went through those lines and then helped with boxes of food for the needy in our community.

There's a difference between stating facts and seeking glory for ourselves. If I were seeking glory there's a lot more that could have been said.

How about sharing some facts about yourself? What are the facts concerning how you've helped others in the last few weeks?

You are trying to divert the thread. The point is that you never see folks in these numbers lining up to help the poor, but they will participate in a pointless exercise to eat a greasy chicken sandwich.

    For what it's worth, I don't eat at Chick-fil-A.

How do you count the numbers when the people are scattered about helping in a number of different ways. If a food bank (pantry) needs two people to prepare boxes, why would 50 people stand in line? If 6 people are needed to put a roof on a house for a needy person, why would a 100 people stand in line? Wouldn't those people standing in line, better serve others, by being elsewhere?

If you don't want to give specifics, how about answering this. How many hours per week do you give to help others? Or, how many times have you done hands-on activities to help others in the last few weeks? Just simple numbers.

The Bible ALSO tells us to bear one another's burdens and to love one another. Mr. Cathy and others at Chick-Fil-A have been under a terrible attack led by Satan's puppets. In appreciation for his bold stance, it is only right and fitting that fellow Christians encourage him and support his business. Those who showed up in droves to encourage did no sin, and they don't deserve to be judged as lazy or uncaring for the poor. That's just childish.

I, for one, am HAPPY and proud of my fellow believers for doing such! How on earth could any Christian mock, condemn or criticize that?

I guarantee you, most of those people would not turn out in such numbers for any work to help as they did nationwide yesterday for a chance to eat 'em some chicken.

Once the news cycle moves on, this too shall pass.

Are you gay and for gay marriage? Just asking because you troll here alot with a rather liberal view....and a dim view of the church too it seems. I saw a wana be mayor condemn Chick-fil-A and low and behold.... she is in a gay marrage. Seems to be the trend.

So you hang your Christianity on being conservative? Interesting.

Trolling? Hardly. You misuse the word. I do not start threads to inflame and then never heard from again.

As for defending marriage, we should start by working to reduce divorces. Why in the world is a gay couple's relationship any of my (or your) business? How does it damage your marriage? (or mine)?

BTW, the OP is a call to action. Let's do something beyond buying a greasy piece of chicken.

If believing this makes you feel better about yourself then so be it. I feel sorry for folks like yourself that has to compare apples and oranges in order to demean what is right in this country.
