Not the entire south, but I'd be willing to strike a deal to trade South Carolina for a state to be named later.

If we split, the North would be coming to Texas to buy oil, food and common sense.

Texas could easily be their own country. With the Feds off our backs we could actually control our borders.

What's wrong with South Carolina? I lived there for five years and it seems like a fine state to me.

Come to Texas, we drill for it and refine it ourselves.

Two's enough. Put all the Marxists West of the Mississippi, and the Federalists East. Y'all be closer to China in the West, you can still welcome the flood of illegals from Meh-hee-coh, while we reinforce our borders. You can have all the fags and feminists, occupiers and atheists. . .

And you can have Obama, too.

Texas is the only state in the Union that could survive as an independent nation. Texas is self sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables and lets not forget seafood from the gulf.

Texas has the world's thirteenth largest economy -- bigger than South Korea, Sweden, and Saudi Arabia.

How many farms would be in existence if Texas farmers were not paid not to farm? How much oil might Texas refine for resale to other US states, were it allowed to do so? How about nuclear power? Texas already exports electricity to Mexico and California.

Texas refines over 85% of the gasoline in the United States. (That's why I pay $2.83 per gallon. What do the rest of you pay?)

Texas has over 65% of the national Defense Industry. ("Don’t mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning.)

Texas can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Other states? Sorry about that.

Texas has all the natural gas we need and it's too bad about those northern states.

Texas currently leads the nation in producing computer chips and communications: Small places like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, Etc, Etc. The list goes on and on.

Texas has the largest research centers for Cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world and other large health planning centers.

Texas has enough colleges to keep us going: UT Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT, Texas Women's University, Ivy grows better in the south anyway.

Texas has a ready supply of workers. (Just open the border when we need some more. Most of us already speak the language.)

Texas has a huge advantage of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc., located here.

In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard (20,000 strong) and the Texas Air National Guard (20,000 strong). And everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an army in 24 hours if we need it. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Texas Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over a couple Texas Rangers. (One riot - one ranger.) (In a terrible emergency when we REALLY need help we can call Chuck Norris.)

This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic Of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have.

Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama: Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only Mr. Obama will be able to drive around in his 9 mile per gallon limo. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.

You won't have any TV as the space center in Houston will cut off your communications. You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas.

Yep. Don't mess with Texas! :)

Bankrupt. Morally, ethically, and financially. If the US economy collapses the death toll in California will be in the 10s of millions. California imports electricity, water, food, and almost all heavy industry products. (Largely because they have driven those industries out of the state by exorbitant taxation.)

Errm sorry, but most of what you say is true of Southern California. SoCal does import water, food and energy. NorCal would be self sufficient. The San Joaquin would be in a lot better shape if we didn't send water south.

As for heavy industry, California doesn't have the iron or coal fields for heavy industry. Sure back in and before WW2, we had steel mills but their feed stock was shipped in from back East. The same is true for our auto assembly plants.

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you meant it is because most of us are of Hispanic descent.

Not really. I did not realize most Texans were of Hispanic origin!
