    It depends!

Mommy's get sensitive to certain sounds. I can hear "ouch" whispered from a mile away in a dead sleep.

Mommy's also get exhausted. I've slept through blaring alarms triggered at night. (security system type stuff getting tripped)

In other words, if they get a paper cut, have no fear. I'll be up and there with hydrogen peroxide and a band-aid in two seconds flat. Robber breaks in? You're on your own. Mommy's sleeping.

I'm a light sleeper through the night. I hear every little sound. Hubby on the other hand, could sleep through WW3.

Oh, and the word "mama" or anything that sounds like a whimper or cry has me out of bed and checking on the kids in a flash to see what's wrong.

Not new, but over the years have slept thru several tornado warnings, helicopter landing in street in front of house (neighbor air lifted out), a hotel burned down next door, slept thru fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. Once a warrant was served to my neighbor by the drug task force. Everyone said it was very loud. Slept thru that.

Sleep thru parties next door rocking into the night.
Sleep thru wife yelling about the parties next door rocking into the night.

Have slept thru dogs barking in the middle of the night needing to go outside. Have slept thru wife yelling that the dogs need to go out.

Been there done that. I've also laid awake half the night because I could hear the tub dripping in the upstairs bathroom.
