I am not sure if Ryan is:

    1. Dishonest
    2. Not very smart
    3. Or figured the American voter does not remember falsehoods and misleading information.

Note the following is from Fox News.

He condemned Obama for Medicare cuts that he himself proposed in his plan. Dishonest to say the least.

Hilarious article! Thanks for posting it.

The article purports to be a "Fact Check" of statements made by Ryan in his speech at the RNC. Yet one-third of the article is about "things Ryan didn't say."

So how do you fact-check things that people don't say?

This claim and this post is dishonest or completely ignorant of facts. I suggest you actually look into exactly what Ryan proposed in full detail before you make your false claim which you will do either way. But then you will at least no longer be ignorant.

Try reading a bit Rev. I have read a lot on this and find that Ryan was quite dishonest including his comments criticizing Obama about the closing of the GM plant that was actually closed while Bush was still in office.

    Look at this one:

Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush.

And here is the transcript of what Ryan said:

A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: "I believe that if our government is there to support you. this plant will be here for another hundred years." That's what he said in 2008.

Well, as it turned out, that plant didn't last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day.

I don't see him actually blaming Obama for the plant closure. I see him blaming it for not being open now.

And here is what Obama said on February 13, 2008:

I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years.

True, the plant closed down in December 2008, THE LAST MONTH OF BUSH'S presidency. So, yeah, I guess I'd blame Obama for not making sure the plant was open for the next 100 years. He became President a month later and passed the Stimulus bill a month after that. Why wasn't there money in the Stimulus bill for Janesville's GM plant to re-tool? Where is the government assistance that Obama promised?

...Obama’s new video doesn’t parse Ryan’s nuanced statements, but instead juxtaposes his speech with media statements that may or may not be related to Ryan’s statements.

For example, the video shows Ryan declaring that “candidate Obama said, ‘I believe that if our government is there to support you, this plant will be here for another 100 years.’ As it tuned out, that plant didn’t last another year.”

The plant was an auto factory operated by General Motors, which had been slated in 2008 for closure in 2009.

The video declares the statement “misleading,” and then shows a quote from CNN’s King saying, “that plant was shut down under the [George W.] Bush administration.” In fact, the factory continued to produce autos until April 2009.

It ceased production in April 2009.

Ed. to add: I should read threads fully through before commenting. Looks like Rev.M. already pointed it out.

(Thanks to Mexdeaf for catching this.)

Janesville. The claim here is that the plant closed "under George W. Bush," as if everything that happens in the country was caused by the sitting president. And because it closed "under Bush," Ryan was wrong to "blame Obama."

Let's step back. The plant was actually placed on standby by General Motors in July 2009, when Obama was in office. Standby means it is kept in reserve to be reactivated, but as of today that has not happened. The notification that it would close - mandated by Ted Kennedy's 1988 Plant Closing Notification Law - was issued in December 2008, when Bush was in office. It was already known that the plant was in jeopardy of closing when Obama gave the speech in question, and what he said was that with government support, plants like this one could stay open for 100 years. He also said in June 2008 that as president he would lead the effort to re-tool plants like the one in Janesville.

Now, did Obama "promise" to keep the plant open? That's arguable. But Ryan didn't accuse him of doing so anyway. Ryan's point was that Obama talked big about how his big-government intervention into industry would save jobs and keep plants open - and Obama specifically used the Janesville plant as an example at least twice. And the result was that after Obama's policies were implemented, plants still closed and jobs were still lost. Janesville was a glaring example of the overall failures of Obama's policies, if not a specific promise broken, and Ryan never said otherwise.
