Romney asked his short list of VP candidates to provide him with ten years of income tax returns ... then why won't he provide his returns for the American voter to see?

Things must be getting bad of Obama's supporters are still on the tax return thing. Everyone else has moved on.

It is simply an interesting question Rev. As my mother used to say, "What is good for the goose is good for the gander." So why, in your humble opinion, did Romney demand tax returns from his VP candidate short list but refuses to let the American people see his?

Just curious why he demands what he refuses to provide. Any ideas why?

Do we know for sure that Romney asked his candidates for 10 years of tax returns?

    From your link:

The Daily Beast’s Daniel Klaidman quoting a “knowledgeable source” who said Romney requested some of the candidates on his vice presidential short-list to turn in a decade’s worth of tax returns,

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/mitt-romney-and-the-art-of-the-double-down-the-note/

    third bullet point

Let's say that Romney DID ask for 10 years worth of tax returns. Maybe it was a test to see how the candidate would respond to that question.

    Two things:

    1) even if the returns were asked for they would not publicly released

    2) If Romney were to release 10 years of returns, should Obama release ALL of his education records - from grammer school - college?

Note: # 2 - a simple yes or no should do

The Romney campaign is releasing Mitt and Ann Romney's 2011 tax return today. [LINK]

The Romney campaign also released a summary of the last 20 years of taxes, between 1990-2009, detailing their tax expenditures during those years:

In each year during the entire 20-year period, the Romneys owed both state and federal income taxes.

Over the entire 20-year period, the average annual effective federal tax rate was 20.20%.

Over the entire 20-year period, the lowest annual effective federal personal tax rate was 13.66%.

Over the entire 20-year period, the Romneys gave to charity an average of 13.45% of their adjusted gross income.

Over the entire 20-year period, the total federal and state taxes owed plus the total charitable donations deducted represented 38.49% of total AGI.

    Attaboy!

The issue of taxes does not help establish the differences between the two candidates. Obviously, the Democrats want the issue to go on and on. Time is ticking away towards election day, and the more time spent talking about taxes, birth certificates, and other such nonsense, the less time Romney has to paint a picture of why he should be President and not Obama.

Obama wants to keep our attention on issues that do not effect our nation, because his record being discussed only harms his reelection chances. It might be a question if Carter or Obama's record was worse, but neither deserved reelection. The difference is that Reagan was able to show the American public what Carter had done for four years. Romney has got to get in gear, and soon.

(CBS News) Mitt Romney is releasing his full 2011 tax returns, which will show he and his wife paid $1,935,708 that year on $13,696,951 of income - a 14.1 percent tax rate.

His campaign also announced that from 1990 through 2009, Romney paid an average annual effective federal tax rate of 20.2 percent.

In 2011, the couple donated 30 percent of their income - more than $4 million - to charity.
