Ahhh, tis the time for political discussions.
    What think ye?
I am the bad guy according to, well, everyone I know.
My opinion is to go with what the Bible says about leaders. A leader should be a believer, one who lives in the fear of G-d and is faithful. Just.
That leads me to believe that no matter what, we should vote for the leader who best fits this description.
However, most people I know feel that voting for someone who doesn't fit that description is the right thing to do if the one who fits those qualifications has no chance of winning. In fact, some have told me that by following my conviction to do this, I am actually helping the unrighteous ones win by not giving my vote to someone who fits that description better, even if a little known candidate fits it better.

What do you think? Is it wrong to vote for a leader who has zip chance of winning but fits the bill for someone willing to stand strong in his/her faith and not waver even if it means being unpopular, or do I vote for one who isn't as strong of a believer, but is closer to it than the next candidate?

And right now, based on the two main parties, I have an easier time believing Obama fits that description better than Romney. Perhaps this is because I am quite familiar with the LDS faith and the very false beliefs it holds onto. I find it more dangerous to Christianity than even atheism, because it purports to be the truth and is very deceitful in posing as a Christ centered belief system.

What do YOU think the Bible teaches us about voting?

The Bible teaches me that GOD will use whomever He needs for that moment. We see this over and over again in scripture. GOD used Babylon and it's evil rulers to bring Israel back to Him. GOD used the Assyrians, God used Rome.

I should vote for the candidate who best explemplifies my core values and beliefs. No candidate is going to perfectly fit, although it would be nice! Then I have to trust that GOD will handle it, according to His will and purpose, from there on out.

In spite of the way I feel about how things are unfolding in the current administration, and in spite of the strong feelings I know that GOD is using what is happening in our nation's capital for His will and purpose as a call to Christians to return to their first love, to stand for what is right. If we do not, then we have no reason to complain if this continues for yet another four years.

Well it behooves me how Christians think a man who worships a false god best fits their core values and beliefs when their core values and beliefs are based in Christ and his aren't. Mitt Romney is wicked to the core.

On the flip side, Obama is just as wicked. There is nothing of Christ reflected in anything he says or does.

SO when Christians support that which is wicked just because they feel that one of the two wicked choices will win, then they should expect wickedness to ensue no matter who wins.

This whole theology that it is better to trend wicked more slowly with one candidate than it is with another is in itself wicked.

    Come Lord Jesus Come.

Well, Zaac, maybe on the last day of Rosh Hashanah (Feast of the Trumpets). Then we won't have to vote.

Can you present Scripture from the New Testament showing this?

I don't believe there is any Scripture that says that. Now leaders in the Church is kinda a gimme. But in the world, I don't believe that there is any Biblical prohibition about having a non-Believer as the leader.

Scripture teaches that when the masses demand a specific leader disaster always follows.

Nope. I've never said that the President has to be a Christian based upon anything that the Bible says. What I've said is that it is hypocritical for Christians to profess to love Christ and then give a larger platform to a man and his religion who do NOT love Christ.

If Christians showed nearly as much enthusiasm for sharing the Gospel as they have shown in their efforts to get Barack Obama out of office, the world would probably be in revival.

That's probably true of most every president since Adams.

And it would by that same directive follow a Romney Presidency. But that probably won't be happening.

And if church members spent as much time telling others about Jesus as they do in the remote corners of the church gossiping, we would have another revival. If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his butt. If a grasshopper had a machine gun, the birds wouldn't eat him.

I think one of the best examples of that in the Bible is Israel wanting a king and got King Saul.

Nothing clear cut except these observations. Christ told us to render unto Caesar what belongs to him. It is obvious that most leaders in history are secular. If they are there, then God gave them the authority to rule. As to how that relates to the election today, it is obvious that neither is Christian, so it is a matter of which one does the least damage. In my opinion, that is Romney. However, I have no problem with a person who wants to vote for a Christian for President if that is their conviction, which requires a third party vote.

As far as voting itself, I do not thing Scripture addresses one form of government over another. We are commanded to obey the law God placed us under. Sometimes in the Bible, lots were used to make decisions.

No, you got it all wrong. You are just following your hero John Kerry. You said something before you didn't.

John Kerry? Really? If it were possible to offend me, I might almost be offended.

If there is anybody who could come to mind that would be as much of an empty suit as Obama, the name John Kerry pops into mind.

He was the Democrat version of Mitt Romney.
