    I don't know who conducts these polls, because I've never once been polled in person or via phone. I personally believe, from my interaction with those around me [both known and not known] that Obama is in trouble.

    The polls that show Obama leading are like the early exit polls, they tend to sway the fringe voters to "vote" for whomever they proclaim the leader may be.

    Polls are not the most reliable form of getting a sense of the public opinion, because we all know that statistics can be skewed and spun to read like the person conducting the poll wants them to be seen. :type:

    It's a given that California, New York, Illinois, etc. is going to go to Obama. Similarly it's a given that Texas, Georgia, Tennessee is going to go to Romney. There is no reason to poll people from these states.

    Nationwide polls are virtually useless. The real action is in the toss up states like Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Virginia. Better to look at something like this:

    You must keep in mind that there are about 100 million households in the country. Each poll normally includes about 1000 persons so do the math!

    I'm trying to do the math!

    ....but, the media keeps telling me that Obama is winning. Of course, I can't believe this, and refuse to believe it, but, polls do influence some of the swing voters [to hop on the train of the leading candidate], which is so unfortunate! :tear:

    It is well over. Obama only needs 2-3 (maybe only one), of the toss up states to win.

    I have been phone polled twice in the past couple of months. Last time was just this week, asked about presidential and issues as well as local candidates. The lady complimented me on my knowledge of the candidates and issues and stated the toughest group to poll are the younger people - they don't know much of anything about the candidates or issues and don't care - too busy texting and playing games on their phones. She said polling younger people is a real source of frustration for pollsters.

    I wonder when the "conservatives" will actually back a candidate that can support their platform and run a campaign.
