A month ago Obama led Romney 48% to 47% in Florida. Now the latest polls have it at Romney 51%, Obama 44%.

But even worse for Obama is the turnaround in independent voters, the key to every election. A month ago Obama had an 11 point lead, now Romney has a 13 point lead.

In Virginia Romney now leads 51% to 44%. One month ago, depending on the poll, Obama led by 5% to 8% in Virginia. And among independents Romney leads 50% to 39%.

I've been a political observer since the early 70's and I've never seen the polls turn around so fast and by such a margin.

That is a pretty hefty upswing.

It is also welcome news. If Romney can finish these last two debates like the first, he might win.

You seem to have good insight when it comes to predicting the immediate future. I recall other situations where you were spot on. I am guessing you think this crisis will come before the election, which means quite soon.

It's simply what I observed in 2008. McCain and Palin surging ahead, and the manufacturing of a crisis to lay at the feet of Republicans.

Another economic crisis will be hard to blame on the Republicans, but I have seen fewer more ignorant than what our high schools and colleges have been putting out in the last 20 years.

I was thinking there was a similar situation right before the mid term elections in 2010, but do not remember what the event was.
