I have prayed for my pets for most of my life.

    I love my pets.

I love all of Gods animals. I am glad they are going to be with us in heaven.

As was pointed out in the other thread there is a difference between praying for your family pets and having a service at for pet blessing. I am sure most, if not all, pet owners have prayed for their pets at least once. I myself have had one of my sons on my lap crying while I prayed for the hamster to be found safe. Now, I don't wish any evil upon my pets, however my main concern was for my sons. That is not to say I am against breaking for the healing and safety of pets for general purposes.

I've also prayed for my car when it was acting up as I was driving home but I'm certainly not going to have an official service at my church to pray for cars....

Oh, my! I've prayed for many animals. Especially cats![IMG]

My prayers for animal consist of requesting that God not let them suffer - as when I've seen them hit by cars or been so sick that they need putting down, but their owners are too attached.

I've prayed for animals not to suffer at the hands of abusers. There is far too much of that.

And I've said a prayer or two for lost animals to found safe and sound.

But, I'm not taking any animal to church with me for a "blessing".

I don't see the difference in praying for a pet inside a church building versus praying for it outside of that setting.

Do you people go to the bathroom inside your church building? You know there is no biblical precedence for that.

    Why do we gather?
I would suggest we gather for the glory of God. People spend all week in the world, dealing with job stress, home stress, traffic stress and, well, life. When we come together we are there to sing praises to God and come to better know Him. We need this refilling. This can and should be a time of joy, however, it is also a time of reverence.

Having a service to pray for Fifi and Fido just does not fit.

Really? How is that a valid comparison?

Ive gone so far as to hire a lawyer to defend my rooster & when he was dying I said a prayer he would not suffer & go peacefully. I have 1 bulldog who is on her way out & I pray for her as well.

But if you have a love for animals then bring someone to Christ. They will develop a heart & a conscience that they would have never had & will grow kindly to every living creature...how could they not?!? Right--and you will be saving their life as well & gain blessings for your own self. Mostly, you will be glorifying the Lord. That aint a bad thing. :jesus:

Some keep saying that there is no Biblical sanction for blessing animals in a church.

I was trying to make a point, and I wasn't trying to be disgusting.

The ridiculousness of the comparison invalidates any point you were trying to make.

When one tries to make an invalid point only invalid comparisons are available.

    I pray for deer.
    • Eleven months out of the year I pray, "Lord don't let me hit one with the car."
    • Mid-November through mid-December it's more like, "Lord, let my aim be true."
    • Then there's the Choctaw prayer that is said after the 7mm-08 travels at just under 3000 feet per second and finds the mark. It goes something like, "Brother Deer. I meant you no harm but there is hunger in the lodge."
    • There's suppertime. We say grace over the Sloppy Does or venison roast thanking the Good Lord for the bounty.
So, YEP, I do a mess of praying for an animal.

Off Topic: If anyone sees Aaron tell him it's time for the hunting for the thrill versus food thread.
