Nothing I said there was mean.

You may be mad because what I said was accurate.

Let's pretend it does. Is anything too hard for the Lord? Some of the greatest people throughout history have been deaf.
Some would say that Beethoven impacted this world with his music to a greater degree than Mozart and yet he was deaf.
With God there is no such thing as a handicap. Ask Einstein, though not necessarily an unbeliever, he didn't allow his "handicap" to hinder him in his work, neither did Stephen Hawkings, whose atheism I don't respect, but whose brilliance in other areas I do.
You could ask Amy Carmichael about that one. She sang about them, though blind. Your post is demeaning to every handicapped person.
Your post limits God. You say that God cannot use the handicapped. Hogwash! Perhaps he gave the handicap that he can use him even more. I believe the handicap that he gave Paul was poor eyesight. Many disagree with me, but that is what I believe.

Here is what the Bible says about your opinion here:
1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

No...quite the reverse brother is my observation
You have been nothing but a gentleman and a stalwart Christian...and your commentary is often edifying.

And I am sorry for misunderstanding that you were addressing someone else and not me. Reading it that way makes so much more sense.

    So let's get this straight.

The ability to hear does not make it easier to enjoy SOUND????

    Madness.

Look, I realize I can't win here, but that's never stopped me before from trying to get over-emotional folks to be reasonable.

But let me tell you what I think this is.

I think this is a bunch of guys making much ado about nothing. Nothing I said is mean or hateful.

The fact that some guys are trying to make it that way makes clear their motives.

What this is is several adults trying to play superhero. It makes you feel good and noble like you are a defender of the weak. It's silly and childish in my opinion.

I read these silly little posts defending a deaf man (who has not been attacked) and I picture you guys swooshing in like Mighty Mouse crying "BACK thou vile VILLAIN!!"

And that's why you attack me. You can't play hero without a villain. You have to have a villain to make yourself feel like a savior and a great defender of the weak.

You need me to be a bully (which I have not been) so you can play the hero.

It's a pitiful attempt to make yourselves feel good about yourselves and it is probably an indication of a problem with self-esteem.

Confident people do not need to do dress up and play superhero to feel good about themselves.

    Just my thoughts.

A little humility when an apology is offered goes further than an apology coupled with a claim of victimhood. You know what Scripture says about a soft answer...

I did not apologize to the superhero wannabe's. The post to which you are referring as lacking humility was addressed to and about them.

I apologized to the person who actually is deaf who expressed that my remarks hurt his feelings.

And you did not establish how that post lacked humility.

I think the whole point here is that it is an UTTER lack of humility to faint compassion to make oneself look good.

Yes, you apologized to Mexdeaf, and it it would have been more graceful to have just left it at that and take your licks from others when they came to his defence. What showed the lack of humility and grace was the attempt to make yourself the victim.

I wasn't going to comment further, but you do know what sound is made up of, correct?

Has it ever occurred to you that sound can be FELT as well as heard? Most likely not. Most hearing people rely upon their ears so much they cannot feel sound.

There is no reason to take any licks from people playing superhero.

I apologized to Mexdeaf- that was enough.

If I trip and fall on a deaf man and five people want to look like superheroes and jump on me, I can apologize to him while refusing to take licks from those just trying to make themselves look and feel good.

    Maybe that's what you're doing?

So it is your contention that hearing is no advantage at all over deafness, right?

    This is absolutely RIDICULOUS!

    A revealing post...

In the interest of full disclosure, I am losing my hearing. It has not been pleasant. Though at times when I think of what I am and will be missing out on, my hearing loss gives me cause to be thankful for the senses that I do still have: sight (nearly 20/20), smell, taste, etc.

The sense of appreciation of what I do have is a byproduct of my growing deafness. So yes, there is some advantage.

In most cases, it isn't. I have four other senses that work real well to make up for the one that doesn't work so well. (Five, if you include the spiritual "sense".)

The point is, for you to tell me what I can or cannot do according to your lack of understanding about deafness or any other disability is ridiculous.

(Again, I apologize to the OP for dragging this off topic. If the sermon is ever available in print I'd love to read it.)

    This is madness.

I might as well be arguing that water is wet with people who think it is more noble to believe it can be dry because [in fairy godmother voice with magical glitter sparkling all around us] "whatever one sets his mind to he can make it happen"

I have not said that being deaf cannot be an advantage. Only an IDIOT would say such a thing. Please replace that strawman- you guys have beat the stuffing out of the poor thing.

I have simply said that there is a beauty to preaching that cannot be captured in print.

It is what George Whitefield meant when he said, "You can't print the thunder."

If you are a quadriplegic you may have ALL KINDS of spiritual advantages. But one of the advantages that you do not have is the ability to WIN THE DECATHLON!!

Now, a guy is not a son of a gun for saying that there is something wonderful about the VOICE of good preaching that cannot be fully appreciated when it is printed. Ian Paisley's sermons in print will NEVER touch the heart like the audio of them with that deep rich baritone voice wrapped in a fierce Irish brogue while crescendoing and decrescendoing emphasizing with whispers at times and loud booms at other times his points.

That's a fact. Denial is not noble or grand.

I think any THINKING person who reads this thread will see that the OVERREACTION on the part of some of you guys is nothing but an attempt to make yourselves look enlightened and super compassionate.

When you have to take such measures to make yourself look a certain way, it usually means that you are compensating for a terrible deficiency in that very area.

I told you to back away from this in a PM didn't I Luke....You didn't listen.............

I was absolutely right Luke...and I demand that you admit as much.....I told you to not reason with this sort as there was no way of winning didn't I??????????

The "chip on their shoulder" sort cannot be reasoned with or spoken to in plain words as there is apparently an entire vocabulary that one must use in order to learn how to speak to them without being "Hitler" or something:

    LUKE!!!!
The "Appropriate" terminology changes every three years or so...and if you are utterly P.C. with the words you used in 2010........you are an un-forgivable dinosaur in 2012......Guess what??

We were told that the term "Impaired" was somehow authorized in these contexts too.....

I warned you Luke didn't I..........by 2018.......you will be a dinosauric jerk to refer to ANYONE as "Impaired"...I told you to walk away Luke....I told you...now back off.

    Walk slowly away,
    SSSSLLLOOOWWWWLLLYYY.....

and perish the idea of using meaningful words with them...you cannot win, they will define all words at will and re-define them at will....
I tried to protect you...but you thought you could reason with those who take upon themselves the authority to define words at will...

They claim the authority to define a "WORD", Luke, a "WORD" with any definition they see fit....One cannot win an argument with this...I told you to walk away....and slowly, and I was right. Just walk away, and give them what they want.

I suffer the "handi-cap" of being somewhat "kjv-only" (but not in the stupid sense)......can you imagine if I referred to someone as being.."LAME"!!!!!!! OH-MI-GOD....I worship Satan then, no doubt.....
Just back away...by the time you learn the correct verbiage and parlance that they accept and you are sufficiently obeisant....the rules will change, and your referring to someone as:

"Super-Dupperly, otherwise Gifted, and Utterly gifted and blessed beyond measure". Will be to insult them as you missed the particular meeting when they decided that we were all somehow jack-asses because we didn't all know how to "sign" in their language...

It's your fault really, for shame Luke, you ignoramus you....You don't "sign"....thus you are grammatically at fault.

    You are a Hitlerrian jerk...
    You are a racist
    You Hate Jesus
You torture blind infants for fun
(mind you: said blind infants aren't "handi-capped" the environment YOU personally created for them is....)

You're a jerk, Luke...You hate the superior persons heretofore previously described as "blind".... You personally set out to make the environment difficult for all superior infants with the superior status of "Blindness" in order to "handi-cap" their progress....

    You sicken me.
