So I'm listening to this interview Mitt Romney did back, they say, in 2007. And he says that his church teaches that Christ will rule from two places during the Millennial Reign----Jerusalem and in Missouri.

    Romney on his Mormon Faith

    Anybody else ever heard that?

Is he also a Mormon advocating that Christ will rule from Jerusalem and in Missouri?

So I guess he has nothing to do with the OP. So anyone else ever hear that Mormons believe that Christ will rule from Jerusalem and Missouri during the 1000 year reign?

If you knew who Jeremiah Wright was and exercised your mind, you'd understand how relevant to the OP my question was, but as you have stated in the past, you aren't interested in knowledge.

FYI, I'm well aware of who Jeremiah Wright is which I'm sure you surmised. And he is irrelevant to the OP because he has nothing to do with Mormons and their teaching that Christ will reign from Jerusalem and Missouri.

Stick to the topic at hand.

Moderators, please close this thread based on the principle of no trolling and a rule against starting threads for the sole purpose of inflamming.

    ***Moderator note***

I have examined the OP and have decided to keep the thread open-----your point is not well taken!

If you knew who he was, why did you ask?

He is relevant if the discussion is about the two candidates' religious views.

You really should think about the threads that you start before you go trolling.

And like the other poster, if you don't want to answer the question, then leave the thread. No one cajoled you in to comment.

The op topic is about Romney's Mormon view of the Kingdom.

Any attempts by whoever to "Derail" it into political arguments or whether Wright was wrong will simply be snipped.

    Grow up

If you don't want to talk about the topic, don't. But don't act like petulant children and try to deflect the issue.

When Jesus Christ reigns with God the Father and the Holy Spirit in the New Heavens and New Earth I doubt there will be a Missouri or Jerusalem as we know them. But if Cade's Cove, Tennessee is still there that is where I want my mansion!:saint:

Being a history buff (FWIW, I've got an MA in History from Austin Peay State Univ, Clarksville TN), I once did a short study of Mormonism's history because I was once told that it was the very first "truly American religion it that its origin was 'American' from its very start."

If you want to read some hair-raising stuff, just pull up Wikipedia's "History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" entry!!!

While I've forgotten a lot of the details, back in the mid-1840's Joseph Smith claimed that he got some revelation that there was to be established somewhere in MO a "New Zion."

OTOH, you must also remember that this same area was also a major front in the nation-wide battle over the abolition of slavery. (Remember anything in your HS American History class about the "Missouri Compromise of 1850"?)

AAR, Joseph Smith's sect were fairly ardent abolitionists + they also believed (Like some Islamic people[!]) that a man could have multiple wives.

Well, MO governor Boggs issued an executive order for the Mormons to be driven out of the state & called for the MO State Militia to enforce this order, hence we had what's known as "The Mormon War."

This resulted in a split w/in the Mormon ranks. Smith led his followers to a place in IL known as Nauvoo (where later he was lynched!). Brigham Young led his followers to what eventually became known as Salt Lake City.

There exists today in Springfield (I THINK that's the city anyway.....Don't have my notes on it any more.) the headquarters of the REORGANIZED Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who claim that Smith's "revelation" of a "new Zion" somewhere in MO IS still a tenet of "true Mormonism."

Not sure if Brigham Young's sect holds to that tenet, but that's probably why Romney may hold to the idea that his Jesus Christ will reign from Missouri.

Historical "truth" sometimes REALLY IS stranger than fiction.

Agreed! But we are already in the millennial reign. What follows is the return of Jesus Christ, the White Throne Judgment, the New Heavens and New Earth, and the Triune God dwelling with redeemed mankind, the Church.
