I think petitions from all 50 states within two weeks from the election is something of a precedent.

    A precedent of what?
Nothing is going to come from all these petitions. A lot of talk about nothing.

It doesn't matter if anything comes of it. What does it say when so many in the country oppose so many things about this President that they create so many lawsuits against. Request succession. to simply smirk and disregard it all is to just bury one's head in the sand.

I would point out that West Virginia, now a red state, seceded from the state of Virginia, a blue state since 2008.

Technically that is incorrect. the legislatures of western Virginia met and certified they were the legal state of Virginia - and that was approved by the US congress - than the renamed state of WV, allowed eastern Virginia to seceded.

But in essence you are correct- What they did was just a loophole to make it legal

Well I suppose you could look at it like this. We had the chance to solve the problem of President Obama one week ago and failed to do so. Not one state is going to secede. I wonder how many of these citizens filing the fifty petitions got involved in the political process in the last four years to at least try and get decent nominees.

I agree. The solution was to deny Obama reelection and we failed to do that. These people filing the papers to secede are producing nothing, which is exactly what they did in the political process to get some decent nominees.

As has been pointed out in other threads, at the most, if it was legal, three states could go it alone.

One Thing That Has Not Been Considered In Succession

One thing I have notices in the seceding threads, those on either side to not follow the normal liberal-conservative divide such as in Presidential elections.

The seceders are going to have to at least work their way up to 1% of the population for there to be any need to pay even the slightest attention to what is a tiny fringe movement. Just more bluster and sour grapes.

I read an article once that said 14% is required for a movement to take off on its own.

It says we have a lot of people who do not really believe in democracy.

The number is so minuscule it is not worth the bother.

I am not a big fan of the Bush's but like what Mrs Bush senior said - 'Obama won - get over it!'

If you really believe in democracy your would take Barbara Bush's advice, the people spoke, accept it and move on and stop acting like spoiled, privileged children.

Of course lots of old white folk are going to have a hard time accepting that we are now a minority. We are going to have to learn to live as a minority, get along with other minorities and just accept it and move on. This old white man had this figured out some time ago and, with God's grace, has lived long enough to see an event that has made it obvious. Many are are in the painful process of discovering what other minorities have experienced since the inception of our country. Now you can whine, complain, cry, shout, scream, shake you fist and it will not mean a thing ... other than that you have not learned.

Rev. it may even make some pastors better pastors, the learning of what it is to live as a minority.

Maybe we will learn to live the ideas expressed on the Statue of Liberty.

We do not believe in Democracy. That is true. We believe in the rule of law and a Constitutional Republic. If the population for whatever reason votes for their own destruction, the electoral college is a check on that power, and can override it.

As usual you have no point, only a one line, nonsense answer. If you had a point your would express it clearly.

My point has been made. You responded to it, with non-sense, but you responded to it. How soon we forget.

    Again, you say nothing.

You are now, like me, in a minority. Face it and live with it. Change is hard for some, very hard for others.
