No real surprise. Obama likes to place people who have actively worked against America in positions of influence. Kerry can help Obama with Apology Tour II.

Personally, I think Obama floated the name of Rice to make us grateful he is nominating Kerry. We would be much better served if he would nominate the Kerrey from Nebraska. It is kind of like when gas goes to 3.99 a gallon, then we are grateful to pay 3.25 a gallon.

Senator Kerry is a good voice to have. Up until this whole Benghazi affair Secretary Clinton had run State well and was really doing a good job representing the US to the rest of the world. The Benghazi affair has been a huge black mark for the curren administration. I'm still stunned (well not really) that President Obama didn't receive blazing criticism for the administration's failure to protect an embassy. When candidate Romney didn't walk through the open door to blast President Obama over it during the debates it really represented a sad moment for our country.

All that said, I've ways been thankful for how Senator Kerry has conducted himself intentionally. He has a lot of relationships to leverage in this role. Though he isn't my ideal politician, I think he will represent the US well during his tenure.

I agree. I appreciate the fact that he had the courage and wisdom to stand up against US involvement in Vietnam back before the rest of the country realised just how terrible a mistake it was.

Kerry like Obama is an extremist. He will only work to further the extreme left's agenda.

    No different than when...

...I decided not to vote for him for POTUS. He is one boring individual...another typical politician that earned his way to the spot he's nominated to fill.

He can't do any worse than others, so, let's pray he never becomes POTUS be process of elimination. Now that would be my only concern, however, there are several folks in his way to natural Presidential Succession.

    AMEN!

Why is it so hard for some to understand that Obama (or any other leader, whether in government or elsewhere) is going to appoint those that most closely match his viewpoint? Endorsing his choice, is indeed endorsing his policies. In that sense, it really doesn't matter very much who he choses for SOS. The end result will be approximately the same, give or take some personality differences.

Maybe I'm just an old fool, for disagreeing with Obama's international protrayal of the USA. Insulting our allies and bowing to our enemies.

Brother, There's a world outside Baptist Board.
I happily discovered that when I stopped posting here for over a year, and I'm about to do that again.

The criticism Obummer received from the right was so scathing that I would've thought his black coating'd melt off enough for the white cream inside of him to show.
One of the many reasons he's still in power (besides some voters going third world and exchanging their intelligence with a smart phone), is because those guys in the tube who like to call themselves investigative journalists (besides the Fox guys, AT THE TIME, they've I think since joined the others) ignored the treason (I call it that) and dereliction of duties and reported on other mundane things, like how Romney parted his hair.

As for Kerry becoming a good rep for the US ?
That'll double Putin over in laughter.
NOW he knows the US is well on its way to where Russia had been.

His stand against the war may have been acceptable but his lying before Congress and the American people was not! But then democrats get away with that behavior. During the Irag war Turbin Durbin called American troops in Iraq "jack booted thugs" on the floor of the Senate. I believe that is short for Nazi Storm Troopers!

Is this your poetic way of saying that the lame stream press are leftist wusssys in Obamma's pocket?
