Another Smoking Ban?

Yes. If people want to live in a place where they can do as they please then they can pay for it.

Now, if this was a ban on smoking altogether....then I would opposed it. I would get thrown out of NY. LOL

 

What some people don't understand is that when the govt gives you something in one hand, the govt takes away your liberties in the other hand. But this is what America voted for and this is what America is getting. (notice the cities mentioned are Democrat strongholds, BTW).

OTOH, if you can afford smokes, why do you qualify for govt housing?

Just wait until the "free obamacare" kicks in, for the real intrusion of personal freedom & liberty, but that is the socialist way.....

 

If the government would get out of the business of being a landlord, along with so many other things, this would not be an issue.

Private landlords should be able to set any criterior they wish for people who rent their property. Ban smoking? That's fine, it's their property. Allow smoking? That's fine, it's their property.

Government get out of the business of being a landlord? Not a chance.

Carrots with hidden hooks were cast and have been swallowed. Hooks have been set. Now the catch is being reeled in.

Ever watch a fisherman "play" with a fish? That is, give the fish a little slack, a little free line. Just when the fish thinks he may be free, pull back on the rod to let him know who's still in control.

Ban smokes. How successful is the ban on drugs?
Ban guns. How successful is the Chicago ban on guns?

But that's not the real issue, is it?

You must get a flu shot, if you continue to live here.
You must lose 20 pounds, if you continue to live here.
You must get an abortion, if you continue to live here.
You must join a union, if you continue to live here.
You must submit to health care screening, if you continue to live here.
You must -- anything else your government landlord choses to impose.

Since private developers/contractors couldn't compete with the government's building of modest housing, there are no other landlords with competitive rental rates. Where are you going to go, if you don't abide by this landlords stipulations?

A ban on smoking in public housing?? How in the world would that be enforced??

The "Honor" system?????

Then the story comes to mind of Adolf Hitler's Germany---and how all of the social "Stuff" was enforced-----Hitler simply divided the nation up into "Blocks"----Berlin was divided into blocks, Frankfurt into blocks---so forth and so on

Each block had a person in charge----who kept up with the citizens assigned to him-----and then they each had their own system worked out---where neighbor would "watch" neighbor---and give daily reports of neighbor conduct--neighbor would "tattle" and "squell" on other neighbors--hopeing themselves to avoid the GESTAPO "Finger" being pointed at THEM --you get the picture---not too difficult of a task to assign America into those same "Blocks"

 

And that is where we are headed, isn't it blackbird? :tear:

Hitler was voted into power.

Our checks & balances system has failed us. The Constitution ignored and trampled upon.

 

And now with the "see something - say something" snitch on your neighbor campaign they are setting up the "block system".
