as when HCSB/ESV had their "minor" revisions?

or do you wait for it to be a real redo, such as when 1984 Niv became 2011 version?

Nah - I didn't worry. I would only worry if the old was shown to be really poor and the new that much better.

With the NIV, I stopped purchasing it when it went to the 2011. That was not a revision I agreed with.

So based on that principle of yours...you probably wouldn't haver bought the NASBU and just stuck with the NASB.

But you never actually bought it to really check it out.

I prefer the 1977 edition of the NASB actually myself to the 1995 edition!

Seems to read a bit more "literal"

How much difference between the 2005 Tniv and the 2011 version?

I give them at least a "once-over", but seldom buy any for permanent use.

I did for years, and I would read them through and go back to the KJV and the ASV1901. However a few of them I enjoyed.

If I'm buying a new Bible and it's in the newer version and there isn't a whole ton different, it's not a huge deal. I have an older NASB and then I use the online versions.

One doesn't need to purchase a Bible to 'really' check it out anymore thanks to online resources. :) But yes, I really did check it out, didn't care for it and will keep my old NIVs going with duct tape.

Did you happen to notice any improvements in the newer NIV in comparison with the 84 model?

    Nope

I have a few of the more common ones like the Living Bible, JB Phillips (a paraphrase), NIV,RSV,NKJV,etc on my shelves for occasional comparison purposes.Since most of the newer Bibles eventually show up on-line at Bible Gateway or Blue Letter, etc. and all I'm ever going to use daily will be a KJV there is literally no need to go spend money on them. The other ones I do possess were either given to me or bought at yard sales or thrift stores. I already have the best...don't need to mess with the rest. That is, of course, my opinion. Ain't the internet great?

Yes,they are. The 2011 toned-down gender-inclusive language and they made some other minor alterations for the 2011 model.
