New Republican Idea to Win the Presidency--Change the Rules!

    You know you are a party on the decline when you have to change the rules to get back into power.

    BOSTON - After back-to-back presidential losses, Republicans in key states want to change the rules to make it easier for them to win.

    From Wisconsin to Pennsylvania, GOP officials who control legislatures in states that supported President Barack Obama are considering changing state laws that give the winner of a state's popular vote all of its Electoral College votes, too. Instead, these officials want Electoral College votes to be divided proportionally, a move that could transform the way the country elects its president.

    So far, Republicans have only advocated for the change in states that have supported Democrats in recent elections. The view is predictably different in states where the Republican nominee is a cinch to win.

    If the republican party really wanted to win elections they'd run libertarian candidates instead of the big government control freaks they have been pushing on us. People want to live in freedom not under control.

    I'm starting to think the Republican Party will be a historical item in about 40-50 years, just like the Whig Party. In the future I see the Democrats as the dominant party with Libertarians growing and another party, similar to Ross Perot's Reform Party or Jesse Ventura's Independence Party also becoming players.

    I'd like to see Rand Paul run in 2016. I also think Marco Rubio is the last shot the Republicans have at the White House.

    The GOP has definitely jumped the shark. I would like to see a conservative national party that mirrors the GOP of the 1950s to be a viable and meaningful counterbalance to the Democrats. I do think the Republicans are at a watershed moment...with relevancy fast slipping away.

    Agreed. They need to give someone people can vote for, as opposed to voting against the other guy.

    You are correct. There hasn't been a real choice is a while. 'Hey, at least I'm not Obama' is hardly a confidence building campaign slogan.

    How do you define this as a fraud. That is how our electoral votes have been decided forever.

    As to fraud, look at the gerrymandered districts in states with GOP legislatures. THAT my friend is true fraud, and the only reason the Republicans still control the House. They are a morally and intellectually bankrupt party.

    I can assure it goes on equally on both sides of the isle. But the moral bankruptcy begins with abortion. Slaughtering unborn children is the worst of the sins in our country right now.

    The gerrymandering of districts under Republican state houses verges on the criminal. It helps detract from the fact that the GOP is well and truly an dying party.

    You make it sound as though only the GOP is guilty. That kind of dishonesty does not further the discussion.

    You know it isn't fraud. Those districts really did get 100%, or more, votes for Obama. Same with all those people who live in that lake. And who could forget the entire Dallas Cowboy's football team voting in another state. Or all those dead people and pets voting.

    This from the party that wants a legal gun owner to register his guns while demanding the voter ID laws are unfair.
