I mostly do weight resistance exercises. Typically free weight with different types of bars, but about a year ago I bought a cable crossover machine and I find myself incorporating it into my workout more and more. It is very versatile and allows me to exercise in diagonal patterns doing what's called PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) techniques which are more natural movements, easy on the joints and improve overall balance.

This is the machine I purchased, Tuff Stuff brand (that's not me, BTW:)) Mine has 200lb weight stacks on each side and I have multiple attachments to use:

The pulleys raise lower and swivel and you can use one upper or lower extremity at a time or both:

I've recently began a routine working my legs in extension doing diagonal patterns for my adductors and abductors, glutes like the girl in the picture and hamstring curls from that same position, then finish by doing hack squats and toe raises on another machine and its doing wonders! Its fun too, I started out using the back of my incline bench for balance when doing cables but now no longer need it. My ankles are much more stable and being one's feet are his base of support I love the proprioception improvements. Great for working my back too.

Another thing I've been into lately is mountain biking.

I run, use the elliptical machine, I have a smith machine with 300+ lbs, Power block adjustable dumbbells up to 90 lbs and an exercise bike. Jealous of Benjamin's crossover machine (in a non covetous way, of course :) )

For aerobics I like HIIT the best. Favorite exercise for chest, dumbbell presses. Like the isolation and range of motion. Back, pull ups. Delts, something I call '21's' (7 front raises, 7 lateral, 7 rear in consecutive fashion). Bi's, dumbbell curls. Tri's, skull crushers. Abs, crunches and an ab wheel. Legs, sprints (can't squat heavy anymore and don't have a leg press)

I'm going to focus on core this year as I'm doing a couple of those mud races (warrior dash and mud ninja)

I have a rowing machine that I need to use more often (I hear the holidays are over...). After I do rowing I'll do push-ups and sit-ups. I have dumbbells pairs in 5, 10, and 20 lb. increments that I work with. I have a cheap stair stepper that I hang my robe on.

A friend of mine once told me that his favorite exercise was the fork lift.

He does it 3 times a day--during meals.

I watch Biggest Loser while eating Cheetos. For cardio I jump to comclusions, make mountains out of molehills and beat my own drum. I stretch last by bending over backwards or patting myself on the back.

I used to watch Denise Austin videos until madre took my VCR away.

Good. ;) All I know is that when I ride, I sometimes have to stop because I'm out of breath. I will break into a full sweat in 20 degree weather as well so I MUST be doing some exercise.

Actually, I remember reading that actual riding (not just sitting there which you CAN do) for an hour is the equivalent of running for an hour.

I just looked it up. 45 minutes of trotting burns 308 calories. 45 minutes of jogging burns 333 calories.

I think the horse burns the difference. ;)

It makes sense, you are using your core and whole body. Each step the horse takes you do a mini squat while contracting your core. Shoulders get one heck of a workout too I imagine.
