What if? I don't believe we ever recovered from FDR trying to cut production and spend us into prosperity. LBJ tried to add to FDR's mess and now BHO is sliding down the same old hill. It is the much the same as unions do, more pay and benefits and less work and early retirement. Our government and unions do a great job of spending other folks money.
    A politician is always campaigning.

Nope. They knew full well what was coming, he was not an elected official and he had already removed the protection of the crown from the colonies and was not operating under a constitution or head of a republic.

    Very different scenario.

Mark my words, there is no way this is going to happen, and even if it need it would not affect this president.

That takes a Constitutional Amendment and the majority of state legislatures are controlled by Republicans!

There was talk back in the mid - '80's wanting Reagan to run for a third term. He might have been pulled it off.

    Oama - not so much

Exactamundo. President Obama is just not that popular (note the lack of interest in the inauguration). The GOP had a easy win last year and just totally blew it.

A third term? Ain't no way on God's green earth.

He always seems to be campaigning and dictating. He is never in leadership mode. He is utterly incapable of being anything else.

    That said:
I don't see him getting a 3rd term. A major national disaster would have to occur, and the people would have to not revolt against the power grab. The economic disaster that allowed Roosevelt to serve so long did not have to weather the same politically divided nation Obama now faces. Essentially, Obama does not have the support.

The Twenty-second Ammendment will not be repealed to allow Obama a third term. Any talk of it happening is only hype.

You all talk as if politicians still pay attention to the constitution. :tonofbricks:

I wouldn't rule out a national disaster yet. The way the anti gunners are demonizing the 2nd amendment and gun owners right now I wouldn't bet against a big false flag event blamed on disgruntled 2nd amendment supporters aka "right wing extremists" taking place just before or during the debate over the "assault weapons ban" in congress. That'll be about the only way they'll get it passed.
