If BO wants to "cement his legacy" why doesn't he do it the old fashioned way, like improving the economy, getting people back to work, throwing some of the Banksters in jail.....you know, real worthwhile stuff. This kind of nonsense that Dickerson (apt name) is just astonishing!

Well guess who's been opposing Obama's policies at every turn?

Fortunately Republicans (at least judging by their actions on the Debt Ceiling and the openness on immigration) seem to be starting to wake up a bit that being like the old Federalists during the Madison administration or the Fire-Eaters before the Civil War is the surest way to political extinction and irrelevance

I was listening to one of Ronny R's inaugural address speeches the other day. He mentions divisiveness in both parties why back in the 80's but he indicated it shouldn't be Republicans vs Democrats as much as Americans striving on becoming upwardly productive vs downwardly unproductive. Whats happened to that mentality?

Interesting viewpoint in light of contrary metrics showing it was the GOP administration that did that, and that under President Obama, the economy has come back from the brink.

They have opposed them because they are bad for the country. But let's just ignore what Obama told the Republicans 6 months in his first term, "Republicans can come a long for the ride but they will have to sit in the back of the bus".

They need to oppose everything he wants because it is all wrong.

Keep telling that fallacy. Fanny and Fredidie and giving mortgages to people who could not afford them put the economy on the 'brink". Nothing else.

Of course that was part of it. But it is not as simplistic as that. They had nothing to do with the failure of GM and Chrysler....the shedding of tens of thousands of jobs...all of the things that drove us to the brink of another depression. It was a perfect storm, a culmination of Republican mismanagement of the macro economy to benefit the top tier of the wealthy at the expense of the middle class. Dubya was another Hoover. Thank God the Republicans did not win to cement our slide into oblivion. There is a long way left to go, but we are getting there. Jobs are rebounding. Consumer confidence is growing. We now must stop the redistribution of the nation's wealth to the top 1%.

No of course not. The car maker jobs were killed by union contracts. When you have more people retired and not producing, while receiving full pay, then you do those who are producing then the company is not sustainable.

And the Fannie and Freddi fiasco was a result of liberal democrat policies and agenda's. No one else.

All I can say is your objectivity is severely compromised. For a man who doesn't earn a living by the work of your hands, you certainly are quick to deny American working men and women the right to organize to better their plight and to be a counter to the potential for abusive policies. Just look at the plight of coal miners a century ago, among others.

Revmitchell has adequately responded to the above nonsense.

It is not the government's job to manage the economy, macro or otherwise. The above statement is the same drivel that leftists have been pushing for years.

The depression could be blamed correctly or not on Hoover. The Great Depression was caused by the fiscal problems of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, trying to spend the country out of a depression. The depression ended when FDR instituted the draft, got us involved in WWII, and put 10+ million men in uniform.

The recession can be blamed on Bush correctly or not. The Great Recession, or perhaps considering the increased number of unemployed, on welfare, and food stamps under Obama is again the fault of his failed fiscal policies. Like that first socialist president, FDR, he has tried to spend the country out of the Great Recession/Depression. The result is a country borderline to bankruptcy, which I believe is the goal of Obama.

You are wrong on consumer confidence:
You are also wrong on unemployment:

Look at 'em today. Either out of work or about to be.

All due to the radical green agenda of one Barak Obama.

You ever seen a coal mine? You ever known a miner? You ever been inside a coal mine?

I have and I know what the United Mine Workers did for miners. At one time that is. The UMW never fought modernization of the mining process. They are almost unique in that aspect of union behavior. Because of that approach the number of miners has decreased dramatically.
I sometimes believe John L, Lewis was the last union president who cared anything about the workers. I know the present crop are a bunch of leftist thugs!

I was a tax paying working when i was 13 years of age. I have haled a job ever since then to include 4 years in the Marine Corps and 5 years as an elevator constructor which was union. So don't give me your "doesn't earn a living working with your hands garbage."

Second just because I point out the excesses of union contracts does not add up to denying anyone the right to organize. When your objectivity is under control come back and talk to me. Until then you might want to get that telephone pole out of your eye.

Just look at the plight of coal miners under Obama. He is not their favorite person these days.

    <PA deleted - LE - this was uncalled for!!!>

I see nothing from any of your posts that would refute my analysis. Bear in mind, you only post anti-union tirades, so that is all we have to go on. Please point me in the direction of posts where you support union workers.

How do you know how he earns his living or spends his time? Many pastors are bi-vocational- and my "second job" allows me to be on-line when I am not otherwise needed.

And Unions- my wife is a member of one and not by choice (she works in a Federal Enclave). We get the privilege of "donating' to them our of every paycheck. In return, we get a nice glossy magazine once a quarter and an invitation to the annual picnic which is held 300 miles from here. We'd rather have the money.
