    Abraham Lincoln said:
"All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
"At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."

Now being fulfilled by Barak Obama and his followers

Abraham Lincoln, not the John Birch Society. Look it up.

So his predictions are bunk even if they have come true because of his affiliation with JBS?

I thought the merit of predictions were based on how accurate they turned out to be not on who the author of the predictions hung out with at the time he made them.

Wait a minute. What just happened here?

So much for walking the talk.

The trouble is that they have not come true.

My reference was to the quotes in the OP. I suppose that, to flaming liberals, it's not the one who is quoted that is important but the one who refers to it that makes it legitimate.

I won't bother to listen to the second speech. But let's look at the ten points of the first. As with any set of predictions, there are hits and misses.
    1. Expanded spending
True, but we are a much bigger nation now than then. Still, I will concede this one.
    2. Higher taxes
False. Taxes are lower than they have been in decades.
    3. Unbalanced budget
    True
    4. Inflation
    False. Not an issue currently.
    5. Govt control of prices, wages, and materials
    False.
    6. Control of human activity and economy
False. There is some regulation, but not near enough. No regulation results in rule by business...which is where we are heading if the GOP gets its way.
    7. Centralization of power and elimination of state lines
False, but there are some areas where the federal govt has exerted itself, I'll give you that...e.g. the old 55 speed limit for example.
    8. Centralized aid to and control to education
Mixed. Federal minimum standards are established, but this is not a bad thing. Local school boards exert almost total control of public education. Also private options exist.
    9. Convince population of the horror of warfare
False. With us being recently in 2 wars, this has not panned out.
    10. Willingness to let govt appease enemies
False. Ask Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden about that appeasement.

And none of these spell the end of freedom, although I do not want the US to have a centralized, controlled economy.

Liberals and democrats have been embarrassed for years by the United States. They have over the years managed to weaken this Constitutional Republic. Now Obama, aka Darth Vadar, is poised to deliver the death blow

What you have to understand is that, to a liberal, the truth can only come from approved sources.

    So, the source is everything.

Conservatives use the same argument. They just rely on a different set of approved sources.

They all love their own gatekeepers.

Is it that, or that there's an appreciation of alternatives to the standard liberal drivel spewed by the in-the-hip-pockets-of-the-DNC outlets?

As a side note, I'm surprised at your use of the word conservatives. I did not think that you thought others were worthy of the name.
