I know that term gets tossed around quite a bit and at times, it's wrongly used but in this case, it's spot on. A friend of mine is going through this with her pastor and it's horrible. Unfortunately, it's her husband's church and the pastor and his wife, Mrs. Pastor (ordained) really took her husband under their wing so it's not just a pastor/congregant situation but a surrogate parent situation as well. But man - the abuse is so clear! I'm just praying that he will see what is going on for what it is and be able to leave that church. SIGH Sometimes I want to be standing behind someone and be doing this to them: :BangHead: or this: :tonofbricks: In this case, Mr. and Mrs. Pastor need both. :(

Sadly many are not really called of God who claim to be pastors. Abuse follows.
A legalism is usually how it manifests...

I don't know that someone who is actually called by God to Pastor a church could never be involved in spiritual abuses. It is sad when it happens and he need much prayer.

    RM,

Sometimes a person with natural gifts, intellect, buisness skills etc, mistake those abilities to think they automatically carry over to the biblical qualifications in 1 tim 3, and Titus. They are not the same necessarily, so even if a sincere person starts out well, if they are not graced by God...mischief follows.

There is no doubt that can be true. But a man "graced" by God and also err.

    See David/Peter/paul

    And YOU and ME!

Not saying that we err in what they did, but that ALL of us fall short of the mark, even after saved!
