    There is a thread on the Trinity, and another thread mentioned the Holy Spirit in relation to His job, which is to convict, reprove, pray for us, and most of all, point each of us to Jesus Christ.

    During a worship service, we praise, worship, and give all the Glory to the Father and Jesus Christ. It almost seems against the nature of the work of the Holy Spirit to worship Him in the same manner. However, He is God, equal with and just like the Father and the Son. Is there ever a time that we should worship Him in the same manner, or does He always desire all the praise and honor be given to Jesus Christ?

    I believe there is, and in most churches, they do, albeit with much less emphasis than the Father and son, which is I think the biblical emphasis. Songs that do this include:

    -Holy holy holy, (worshiping the trinity)
    -Wonderful Merciful Savior (2nd verse to H.S)
    -Glorify thy name (1 verse for each person of the trinity).

    I don't believe that these songs somehow violate scripture, or displease God.

    Some have said the only way to worship, or pray, is
    -TO THE FATHER
    -IN THE NAME OF THE SON
    -IN THE POWER OF THE H.S.

    but I think that is an oversimplification.

    In st. John 16:13-14 Howbeit when the he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you in all truth: for he shall not speak of himself. Verse 14 say's He shall glorify me. The Spirit worship has gotten out of hand in some denominations. I don't think the Holy Spirit draws attention to himself, but to the Son.

    I believe you both are right. The Holy Spirit directs praise and adoration to the Father and Son, especially the Son. That does not mean there is anything wrong with worshiping the Holy Spirit. He is God. It is kind of ironic that the only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, but not the Father and Son.

    Remember this song?

    The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost,
    He came to mighty fullness then;
    His witness thru believers won the lost,
    And multitudes were born again.
    The early Christians scattered o'er the world,
    They preached the Gospel fearlessly;
    Tho' some were martyred and to lions hurled,
    They marched along in victory!

    • Chorus
      Come, Holy Spirit,
      Dark is the hour,
      We need your filling,
      Your love and your mighty pow'r
      Move now among us,
      Stir us, we pray.
      Come, Holy Spirit,
      Revive the church today!
    Then in an age when darkness gripped the earth,
    "The just shall live by faith" was learned;
    The Holy Spirit gave the Church new birth
    As reformation fireds burned.
    In later years the great revivals came,
    When saints would seek the Lord and pray;
    O, once again we need that holy flame
    To meet the challenge of today!
    • Chorus
      Come, Holy Spirit,
      Dark is the hour,
      We need your filling,
      Your love and your mighty pow'r
      Move now among us,
      Stir us, we pray.
      Come, Holy Spirit,
      Revive the church today!

    It's a good old song isn't it! Of course, when I first learned it, it was one of those new worldly songs that are invading our churches.
