And just how long is it that you can remember? There is no doubt that insurance companies may well deny treatment but the insured may have recourse to the courts. When the Federal government denies treatment where do you go?

I converted Jan. 1, 1990 and I am continually amazed at the rationalization the people claiming to follow do. Of course, this same rationalization keeps them from daily study, sooooo...

Liberals are always trying to make false comparisons between what goes on in the free market and what the government does.

Have you worked in the insurance industry?

Further, with private insurance companies, the insured have options. First one is their CHOICE of insurance carrier. Next, is their choice of coverage, which is the underlying basis for the first choice. And, there is legal recourse when an insurance provider does not adhere to the agreed upon coverage.

Government controlled insurance is an entirely different animal, when CHOICE is no longer an option. Especially, when the courts have approved of govermental control of same. Grandma won't have any options when she's pushed off the clift.

It seems you always have Obama pegged in your posts. Now, if you would just top voting for him. I think there is treatment for that problem.

I remember back to about the late 50's. How about you? I've never heard of recourse to the courts for insurance companies decisions not to support expensive procedures. besides, ObamaCare does not include the Federal government as the provider of last resort. Everything goes through the insurance carriers.

I've dealt with insurance companies for over 40 years on my own (not under my parents policy). Why do I have to have worked for them. have you worked for an insurance company. Besides, there is ne government option in ObamaCare so why do you keep talking about it?

FollowTheWay, thank you for posting the facts about this sort of thing. Private citizens cannot compel a business via the courts to provide goods and services. There simply is no mechanism besides the free enterprise system for private citizens to get a company to offer a product.

BTW, in the unrealistic hypothetical scenario whereby the Federal government would deny treatment, my answer would be to contact your House and Senate member and work on getting the law changed so there would be coverage. If enough people were to do this change could be effected. In contrast, try going to the board meeting of United Health Group and talk them into covering a procedure they currently do not cover. Good luck with that.

The point about denial of insurance is a silly argument. Blue Cross denied to cover several aspects of my cancer treatments, and they were done anyways. Nobody denied me anything. It took me a long time to pay it back, but I was never denied anything.

Insurance companies cannot deny treatment. So stop saying they do.

May have you beat with the number of years in dealing with insurance companies on my own, with regards to my private insurance situations. :flower: My start date was 1966. Yours ?

Next, I spent quite a few years as an insurance administrator in a corporate environment. Everything from helping fellow employees file claims to putting out both corporate and group insurance contracts out for bid. Dealt extensively with coverage limitations and exclusions. Both in defining what should and shouldn't be in those contracts and in advising employees how to work within those limits.

For example --- Be sure to start your major dental work in this calendar year so you can finish it in the next. There is an annual limit in our policy. Don't wait until January 1. If you do, you'll lose the existing benefit of what's available until Dec 31. If Susie Q didn't listen, she had to pay out of pocket, complaining all the while about the unfairness.

What do you mean "there is no government option in ObamaCare"? Scratching my head over this comment.

I think he means that the Federal government is not directly administrating a health plan. Medicare is a federally administrated health care plan. Under ObamaCare people will be able to choose policies from insurance companies via a government run insurance exchange, but the plans will be administered by insurance companies.

You always have the right to pay for your pwn treatment. Wew're discussing coverage by the i9nsurance company. You reinforced my argument that the insurance companies have death poanels.

Fall of '67 when I entered college. Sounds like you're one year older than me if you went to college that is.

When did people get so stupid. No wonder obama got elected. It matters not that everything goes through the carriers. When the government decides how much doctors will get reimbursed then it does in fact get administered by the government. When the government creates a panel to make decisions on coverage then the government does in fact administer health care.

Good grief where has common sense gone.

Really ? And how did I do that ? Am I dead ?

How do insurance companies deny treatment, oh grammatically challenged one ?

Which means the government will determine, just as it does with Medicare, the coverage, or lack thereof, for the companies doing the paperwork (admininstration) for health insurance. Government run insurance exchange means exactly that. The government will run (control) every aspect of medical care coverage for the average John Doe. -- Every man on the street who cannot afford to purchase private health insurance directly from the carriers. -- (If that option will still exist after all the provisions of socialized medicine kick in.)

Congress exempted themselves from ObamaCare. Ever wonder why?

The government has set certain minimum coverage requirements for the insurance companies within the exchanges but they don't otherwise dictate what they cover.

Why? Because it's not a Federally administered health care plan! Thanks for making my point.

ObamaCare exempts anyone that is currently receiving a Federally administered health care plan (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-Care) or an employer administered plan. That would be members of Congress.
