I guess I've always just thought that Saint Patrick was an Irish guy who got his own holiday that's coming up this Sunday (March 17th)...but I never thought much more about him. He was actually a great man who dedicated himself to the Lord's work. Here's an article about him: http://www.gracecentered.com/life-saint-patrick.htm

Thanks for posting Salty. I did not know that. I thought St. Patty's day was just for partying and drinking green beer. So sad the truth has been lost.

Well, we got a statue of him in our church....he wears a bishop's mitre, has a crook, He was a pretty muscular saint by all accounts, converting the heathern Irish to Christianity from the old gods was not for the faint hearted.

    lol.
if I had known about green beer maybe I wouldn't have had a beer belly in me early days.
but I'll be flushed green instead of flushed red in the face, I guess ?

Maewyn Succat was born in 385 AD in either Scotland or Wales. His given name does sound more Welsh than Scottish, but since he was born in Roman Britain one can never be sure. His father, Calpornius, was a deacon and a tax collector. The family were well-off and that is partly how Maewyn took the name Patrick which was from Patricus which means high-born. :D:D:D

St. Patrick had to be smart to convert the Irish Druids to Christianity using a shamrock to illustrate The Holy Trinity!

However, when he chased the my ancestors (the snakes) out of Ireland, he lost my vote!
