Know there were "papers" going around on both side regarding this, was there ever an official decision made by the SBC at leadership levels?

No. Not even close. There were no papers that would do anything official. BF&M still allows for a variety of views.

(I am a member of a local, autonomous, Baptist Church that gives some money to the Cooperative Program, The IMB, and Namb.)

"leaders" so called would have no power to make such a decision in the SBC. Your question misunderstands the "power structure" of the SBC entirely.

The influence of these doctrines throughout the SBC will come down from the seminaries teaching of these doctrines. It seems at a stalemate to this point. But if more calvies are put in faculty positions throughout, then the more influence they have on the future pastors and so on and so forth.

Stalemate between Seminaries, I might add. SBTS being the most calvinistic, SWBTS being the most anti-calvinistic, with New Orleans probalby similar. SouthEastern you might call "Sympathetic" to calvinists...The others, I don't know.

Isn't their current president a staunch calvinist?

And think sthta the Seminaries at least should get back to teaching such?

    1. President of what, the SBC? Fred Luter? Not sure...I don't think he is.

    2. No one can make the seminaries do that with the power structure as it exists right now...

My mistake! I was referring to Dr Mohler in the SBC, as one of the chief spokesman and proponent for getting calvinism back among the SBC church...

    As to the Calvinist "Thingie"

IF the SBC were EVER to adopt 5-point Calvinism as their official doctrinal stance I know of at least (2) SBC Pastors (mine and his father-in-law) and at least (3) laymen (and women),myself,my wife and my best friend who would never give another dime to the Cooperative Program. As it is now I usually designate our offerings and use cash to make them for reasons that are between us and the Lord. I'm not "big" on the Cooperative program to begin with because there is no real control over who and how the money is utilized. You give in and they (whoever "they" are) dole it out. It's NOT "local" enough for me...but that is a topic for another thread. That ANY of that money would even go to an SBC school that supports Calvinism would be a no-no to me. Let them pay for their own fun and games.:tear: I just don't wish to "advance" their cause. I don't wish to sound mean...I know there are some dear and sincere brethren that believe that way. I'm just not one of them.

I am uncomfortable around any Baptist association that mimics a denomation. That includes the SBC and ARBCA.
