Been reading David Platt's new book Follow Me. It would appear that his evangelism methodology is much different from that of the Way of the Master. In his previous book he even discourages that form of evangelism. He calls his evangelism Discipleship which is not exactly what happens with Way of the Master. Way of the Master is perfect for condemning sin. Comments anyone?

Platt is a Calvinist, so he and Way of the Master probably don't share a lot of common ground when it comes to evangelism.

Though definitely not a Calvinist, I too wouldn't use the Way of the Master methods either.

Comfort is in my book, well intentioned, but a bit of a kook.

Why would evangelism discipleship be less better at communicating sin than street preaching?

I don't agree with Way of the Master...I'm sure Dr Platt's book is a good text.

We did the way of the Master series, and while had some good points, it seemed to rely too much upon convincing people to come to christ without having the Holy Spirit be the one doing that on them, more like we were convicting them thru areguements about them as sinners!

not so much speaking to them about the HS, but more about jesus died for their sins, and that now is the acceptable time to get saved!

Just seemed to be overemphasising appealing to sinners through the mind, and not realising that the HS Himself has to do His work first!

So you really think they do not realize this?

I haven't read the book. But Platt has a heart for missions and I'm all for that. Evangelism methods come and go, but the Gospel and the command to take it to the world has never changed.

WOTM is Calvinist I believe. However most Calvinist leaders do not embrace all of it. Its not perfect but its very Biblical. But yes it has some weak points. Comfort does have some issues yes which have shown up in some of his writings and podcasts. But he has a heart for evangelism.

would say that he leans heavily on the side of 'Lordship salvation", so a lot depends on just how you view that concept as to how seeing the WOTM!

WOTM is not doubt Lordship as well. Nothing wrong with Lordship, however one can't assume everyone whom does not have fruit 100% of the time is a false convert. However no question many are false converts whom have said a prayer. Reading David Jeremiah, Erwin Lutzer, and Charles Stanley I have seen some issues with Lordship.

just saying that Jesus is the Lord and saviour automatically over all the redeemed, its just that we have to apply that into our lives over time, at least most of us, as none have reached that stae of "sinless perfection" where alla reas all the time under his lordship!
