Hello to all. I might have an opportunity to spend a great deal of time in Europe for the coming decade and I was wondering about starting a doctorate (DMin preferably). I ran across this program: http://www.spurgeons.ac.uk/Home/TheCourses/DMinDoctorofMinistry/tabid/133/Default.aspx

Anyone have thoughts about this school and/or this particular program. (P.S. I'm not seeking a discussion on the virtues of the DMin in general or a DMin vs. PhD rehash.)

    Thanks!

    Siberian,

If you are going to be in Europe for a while, why not do a PhD or ThD there? When you come home your stock will be worth a great deal more if ever you wanted to teach in the university or seminary.

I think the DMin is a good degree but the PhD, done on the continent, will be worth the time and money difference.

    "That is all!"

Siberian, I have met a number of professors from Spurgeon's and have been very impressed. I assume their program is on the European model ... lots of independent study and writing ... and not on the American model ... lots of classroom work.

He recently retired, but do a Google search on Ian Randall to get an idea of the quality of their professors.

Spurgeon's has just hired a young man, Josh Searle. Josh is brilliant and I believe he will do great work during his career. His dad, Roy, is one of the leaders in the Northumbria Community.

Spurgeon's is top-notch! You couldn't go wrong with a degree from there.

An excellent proficiency in statistics is very important in doing research. A good number of classes would be about six classes in statistics.
