The New England Patriots will sign Tebow and have him at their minicamp that begins on Tuesday, as first reported by Ed Werder of ESPN.

Although the connection between Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Tebow’s old Florida coach Urban Meyer has led to talk in the past that the Patriots could be interested in giving Tebow a shot, the news still comes as a major surprise. In recent weeks most of the talk surrounding Tebow in the NFL has centered on the idea that Tebow was totally done in the NFL.

There’s still much we don’t know, including whether Tebow will have a shot to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job behind Tom Brady (it should go without saying that Tebow has no chance to start in New England), or whether the Patriots are more interested in taking a look at him at another position and as an occasional wildcat quarterback.

Glad to see the young man has a job in football again. He might not do everything correctly but he is a winner.

    ESPN loves it.

Yesterday, between 5pm and 7pm Eastern, ESPN mentioned his name 137 times in 120 minutes. Awesome.

Good to see this. He may not be the best QB in the league but he is a winner and is fun to watch.

Yep, good thing there is nothing else happening in the sports world nowadays, things like, the NHL Finals, the NBA Finals, the U.S. Open, ongoing baseball season, etc. Wouldn't want that to detract from Tebow-mania!

Fun to watch him sit on the bench? Wonder how many snaps he will get backing up Ryan Mallet, who backs up some guy named Tom Brady.

He wont be taking snaps away from Brady, so you van forget the wildcat. I see him as more of a project to become the second string qb next year. They didnt take Mallet in the third tound to watch him leave in free agency. He will be traded at some point.

Can't imagine why they signed him, but there's no risk, as they gave him no guaranteed money. Considering the Jets stuck with Sanchez last year, I have a hard time believing he's going to beat out Mallett as backup to Brady.

Quite so....There is no situation on planet Earth where I would prefer to have Tebow (at present) take away snaps from Brady.......even a 4th and 1. Obviously, they see a project and raw upside. No guaranteed money, and they got him for a saw. If he doesn't work out, they are out zilch. If he somehow DOES become the passer they want, then it will be the genius move of a decade.
