Will we ever Be able to narrow down around the time God will return? I have read books on prophecy heard preachers prophesied, heard regular preachers talk about signs and signals of the lords coming. From Egypt being attacked to earthquakes and twisters. Throughout the Bible it is littered with different signs and scriptures pointing towards the coming of the Lord and what to look for. So, I ask you all. Is it possible to have an idea. Do you know?

I know. It will happen at the time of Jesus' own choosing. Don't worry about what the headlines say. Do the things that Jesus said to do until He returns.

It will happen after the last person the Father has chosen to be joint heirs with Christ in this age is saved.

It will happen when the Father tells the Son that the place He is preparing for us is complete.

It will happen when the Father chooses, and no man knows the mind of God.

    Be ready.

    Look up.

Don't be discouraged and look down as the world becomes more ugly in sin and hazardous to the health of believers.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the delay means there will be no coming.

Be watchful, hopeful, and remain unstained by this world.

Whatever time frame one narrows it down to, that is when it will not be.

    Keep your eye on Israel.
It was recently reported in the news that over 50% of the Jews
in the world now live in Israel (6 Million+). Expect another Arab-
Israeli war in which Israel will decisively win and greatly expand
its borders. The "Tribes" occupied all of the so-called "West Bank"
as well as part of Manasseh, and all of Gad and Reuben on the
    "East Bank" of the Jordan.

Look to Ezekiel ch. 47 & 48 for the borders and distribution of the
Tribes during the Tribulation and following.

    Bear with me....

Jesus Christ, as fully God and fully man, had some constraints on His mortal and physical body before the resurrection. He bled, he experienced pain, he got hungry and thirsty, he got tired, he experienced spiritual/mental anxiety, and more.

He also told his disciples that even He did not know the time of His own return. My opinion - and my opinion isn't worth a hoot nor a holler - I believe that His not knowing was part of those constraints of His mortal condition. Now, it's also my opinion, but I believe that after the resurrection, He does know. He received a glorified body and is still - as eternally always - fully God.

If Jesus Christ - while living as we live - did not know, why on earth should we think that WE can know or even try to know.

Again, my opinion ..... all the "signs" in the Bible of Christ's return are pointing the way for US to get our Christian act together and live like Christ whether He come back with immediacy or not.

Live as if He's coming back RIGHT NOW, but don't get absorbed with the actual date nor signs to the point that you ignore what's really important.

That's it in a nutshell, IMO.

It's still dark, here, as I type. Dawn will soon be breaking on this mid-summer morning. We should live, as if He will appear with the rising sun, THIS morning. (Would love to be sitting on my front porch when that happens, BTW.)

It may not come about in my lifetime or that of my great nieces & nephews. Yet, many of the signs are that He will return soon. How many places remain, in the world, that have not been exposed to the Gospel, for example?

One thing we know for sure is that we are almost 2,000 years closer than we were.

    OT,
When I was younger, in the 60s, I really got hung up on the books by Hal Lindsey and was convinced that Christ would return in my lifetime, and probably early in my life. I was firmly convinced that he had the correct sequence of events figured out.

I think we learn several things as we get older. One is what the Bible says about the date, that no one knows, and as sure as a prediction is made, one can rest assured that the prediction will not be the date. It almost reminds me of a chess game, except your opponent (the Lord) knows all the moves.

Another thing that comes to mind is that Hal Lindsey's idea of end times is only one of many, from different interrpetation of parts of Revelation, Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew, to mention a few. He might be right, but not as sure as I used to be. There is a lot to be said for the post trib postion. This is one doctrine that I have not decided on since I questioned Lindsey after reading other books and going through several pastors.

You and several others mentioned the most important factor of all, not worrying about the timing and living like He is coming tomorrow. It may very well be He still comes in our lifetime. There is nothing to prevent it, and the signs are certainly there.

Pre-mid-post is still on my to-do list for indepth study. Have read some of the varying opinions & points made. For some reason, right now, there isn't a real push to learn more, thus stake out a position and cling to it. Maybe in time, that'll change.

Right now, I'm comfortable in knowing our Saviour will call me home, one way or another, when it's my time to go. Right now, it's just wishful and somewhat selfish thinking that I'd be standing on my front porch. If instead, my grave opens, then more time has been given so that someone else may be standing on their front porch. Perhaps a great, great niece or nephew, who's now just a tinkle in God's eye.

Yes, the signs are there. Seem to grow stronger with each passing season. Since the sun is well over the horizon, as I type, the next sunrise awaits. We just have to try to be patient as His plan unfolds. Maybe, tomorrow. :flower:

I used to listen to Maze Jackson on the radio in the seventies and about all of his messages were prophecy messages. I ordered a lot of his prophecy records but guess what, all of his time line prophecies are long out dated. I think the reason a lot of people want to insist Christ will come back in their life time is because their afraid of the grave.

So that becomes the hour ye think not?

Careful, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

You do have a point. The premise is I do not think He is coming because someone else He was.

I agree. But as Christians we shouldn't be. If anything our lives shouldn't be ones marked by fear.

Here is a youtube video of a girl that thought she was "left behind", some friends she has

The feeling of being left behind is horrid! I remember when I was younger walking outside and not hearing a sound, seeing anyone or any cars for a very long extended period of time and my heart sunk and I was sure Christ had come and I was left behind. :tear:

That was a cruel joke. It was not funny, and the perpetrators ought to be ashamed.

We know that we are closer to his second coming than they were in the NT times, and also know that we are to be about doing His business and be foundready/prepared for whenever he returns!
