I'm working on a ministry that would give pastor's some time away from their flock in a private, restful setting.

I envision some private cabins, and a main lodge in a secluded setting.

Daily prayer services and prayer training, or information would be available.

Pastor's would arrive by car on a Monday and depart on Thursday or Firday.

    All food would be furnished.

The purpose of this is to give pastor's some time away and not let it be a burden on them or their congregation.

I would appreciate any thoughts, comments, or suggestions.

    Thanks.

Such a deal would be wonderful. I once had the rare occasion to spend a week with my wife at such a place near Branson, MO to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It is a time we still remember fondly. Food was not provided, but a dock on a lake stocked with fish was. The fish did not cooperate so we had to go food shopping.

This would be especially beneficial to bi-vo pastors and missionaries who struggle to make ends meet.

The concept was brought to me from some very experienced pastors during a discussion of ministers leaving the pulpit.

It would be a way for them to leave their "troubles" somewhere and relax.

    Thanks for your input.

Full service like that take a lot of funds. you might see if you can get churches to contribute to that on a regular basis. It also might be necessary to have it open to others who pay regular price to support the time for pastors. There is a retreat camp in Southern Colorado that lets pastors and their families come stay for free but they have to take care of the laundry and feed themselves.

While this sounds wonderful and extremely generous, it seems like it would be quite a bit high in cost. I also don't know if it would necessarily need to be free either. I don't know about everyone, but I would suspect most wouldn't mind paying for food especially if lodging was free, or perhaps paying for both if it was really affordable. That might be a better sustainable model.

We are just starting to look at various fund raising concepts. I'm an SBC pastor, as are the others on our Board of Directors. They pastor churches, and I have a prayer ministry.

We believe that we will be able to get inital and ongoing funding through the church networks. We are alos looking at possibilities of paid stayes for some to support the other part. Lot's of possibilites.

We are looking at starting small (6 cottages) and subsequently growing to accomodate wives and families in the future.

I really appreciate you taking your time to reply.

We may have a provision for some payment. Maybe one part helps pay for another.

However, the overall idea is for a pastor to come for a visit and not have a "worry" of any costs associated with his stay.

I think it will evolve into family stays, which would have low rates for affordability.

    Thanks for your comments.
