Simple poll. No names of responders to the poll will be known, so you can feel free to give an answer and remain anonymous!

I know you're working on the poll but I can honestly say that I haven't. I seriously even have a hard time saying the words in conversation (like saying the n word that Paula Dean used to tell someone what she said!). However, I did recently say something about "Oriental" and was told that was offensive which I had no idea that it was. I was told to use the nationality (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) or else "Asian". Now I know.

I will admit, in my past i was known to use the n word. But one must understand when i grew up the word referred to lazy persons. It was not racial.

I even called some of my family members who thought the world owed them and would not work by that title.

But i never used it as a slam against any race.

Oriental? really??? Reckon i will have to get rid of my Oriental Trading magazines. Or should i say Asian Trading? Korean Trading?

    Wait, that sounds even worse.

    IMO, Oriental is not racist.

I pay no attention to New-Age-Liberals, as I believe they're part of the world's being set up to accept the antichrist.

For example, "African Americans" is a New-Age-Liberal misnomer. Americans are AMERICANS, regardless of their race or national origin. The only "African American" I ever heard of is the former pro basketballer Hakeem Olajuwon. He first came to American attention as an Olympic volleyballer from Nigeria. After becoming an American basketballer, he applied for USA citizenship and was accepted. However, dueta someone's goof, he still had his Nigerian citizenship at the same time. So, he was tryly an African American. (The error was swiftly rectified; he's now just an "American"!)

Same with "Native American". They are Lakota, Apache, etc. while being American citizens as well. And, their ancestry is native to what is now Mongolia and its immediate surroundings. And the term "Indian" was never meant as an insult. It came about because Columbus at first believed he'd landed in India, and he didn't know what an inhabitant of that land was supposed to look like, so he called the people he saw "Indians".

Ask someone what the actual definition of "honky" is.

And Paula Deen isn't exactly broke! I admire her honesty, as she simply coulda denied the accusations and, thru her attorneys, dared someone to prove her wrong. And I'll "Gair-on-teee" that other publishers, marketers, and TV channels will pick her up soon if she so desires.

This whole thingie is simply yellow journalism attempting to construct a straw boogerman. Remember Deen's age & where she grew up.

Something I asked a 75-yr. old black man recently... I am 65... "How come, when you were a teenager and I was a small child(I grew up in DC and Cincinnati) that then, a black person heted to be called black, but preferred the term "Negro", when negro is simply Spanish for...(drum roll) BLACK?" (He didn't know!)

    Unfortunately, yes.

    When I was very young growing up in North Carolina, say 6-10 years old, we would often use the N word when making a choice, we would say;

Eenie, meenie, minee, mo, catch a N----- by his toe. If he hollers, let him go, eenie, meenie, minee, mo

Honestly, we did this because we heard it from older kids and meant no harm. We really didn't think about what we were saying. I happened to know many black persons and got along with them perfectly, in fact I lived with black people for awhile. I did not look at them any differently, if anything, I thought black people were super sweet and kind, intelligent, well dressed...

Nevertheless, I do remember saying this back in the early 60s.

In 9th grade I called a female classmate a little "n". Ms. Johnson, a black teacher, overheard me, led me to the hallway and proceeded to lay the board of edu on my hind parts. When we got back in the room, the little girl said, "honky got what he deserved." Ms. Johnson took her out and she got the same whuppin'.

I have been known to call our dogs f4gg0ts even though one is male and the other female. I love all dogs equally. But cats, I despise them all and have slanderous names for them when they lay on my porch, yard, truck, etc.

So why are you including gays and financially, attractive or mental capabilities in the options of racial slurs?[IMG]

    Because.....

it's my poll and I can do what I want....and, while they are not technically "racial" slurs, there are derogatory names used toward those in these fields.

This Martian was flying around in his flying saucer when he got hungry. He saw a little diner, so he landed and went in and sat down.

Owner- "What will it be for you today Mr. Martian?"

Martian- "I'll have a hamburger and a coke please"

The Martian eats his meal and says, "How much do I owe ya?"

The owner thinks to himself, "This Martian doesn't know anything about the price of hamburgers" and says, "That'll be 20 bucks." The Martian pays him.

Owner- "You know, we don't get too many Martians around here."

Martian- "At 20 bucks for a hamburger it's no wonder." :tongue3:

Did you hear about the Mississippi space program? They are going to the sun, and going at night so they do not get burnt. (not meant to a slur to citizens of any of the fifty states) JK Fred, I grew up there.

How many Mississippians does it take to change a light bulb? I dunno... they're all out hunting.

(besides, who needs a light bulb when the PC monitor is so bright?)

LOL, I do recall reading in history about the skirmish between Mississippi and Tennessee. The Mississippi units threw some hand grenades at the Tennessee troops. The Tennessee troops picked up the grenades, pulled the pin, and threw them back.

I believe in freedom of speech, therefore I use whatever term I deem as appropriate at the time. Since most of the time I have heard the dreaded N-word it was at work and was used by blacks. If they don't have a problem with it, neither do I.

As far as using words toward homosexuals, I usually use the work sodomite, however I have no problem with calling them faggots occasionally.

Who has determined that "oriental" is wrong?
If so, than "Caucasian is wrong.

    Much ado about nothing.
aka - some folks have nothing better to do than come up with stupid ideals.

    Salty

PS - does that mean that the "O" Express must be renamed - oh really.....
