"You shall not use the Lord your Gods name in vain" Not just as a cuss word but in any way that is not respectful. ( I Don't ) I do not have control of those around me but I can walk away, ( I do ) Question If you Pay to see a movie Or DVD Or watch a TV show in your home that does would it be a sin to you?

    My Opinion Yes

Some folks must truly consider that they are greater than Lot, so they are willing to grieve (vex) their soul by condoning and even actually supporting the industry that propagates evil and calls it good.

Isn't it enough that just interacting with the world system to do daily commerce is grievous enough without spending money to be fed by it with its intent to make evil as palatable and normal?

I have heard preachers use barnyard language from the pulpit and call it good.

I have witnessed those of the world do the same and call it good.

All the time, God's statement is - nope it is not good.

My opinion is that cussing is not a sin. What makes a word bad, or good? Society. And since when have we allowed society to decide right and wrong?

My take on the "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain", is two-fold. Firstly, it's a vain prayer. "If we regard iniquity in our hearts...", and what do we say at the end of a prayer (not all, but it's not uncommon)? "In Jesus name...". If you are harboring sin in your life, and pray to God without first cleansing that sin, you have taken God's name, but in vain. That's why I don't like when people use the words "Oh, my god", or when they order God to damn something. It is essentially a vain prayer. But cussing in general, I believe is a societal construct, and neither right or wrong.

Secondly, is the common use of the word Christian. It is someone taking the name of Christ upon themselves, but in vain if they have not been saved.

Do you pay for the internet where people use OMG with regularity? What about normal broadcast networks? If you pay for cable, you are paying for them to use His name lightly.

Renting or watching a movies that uses God's name like that would not be considered a sin for me. It grieves me more when believers use God's name so lightly than when non-believers do.
