What are you preachers planning on preaching about this Fall? I'm going thru Luke on Sunday mornings. Sunday nights are up in the air. Wednesday night short Bible study/devotional after praying are working thru Psalms, one per Wednesday.

    What about you all?

So since there's no sunday night, there's no sunday morning preaching going on in the fall?

I'll have to ask hubby what his plans are. Right now he's going through The 4 Heart Conditions that Andy Stanley has taught on - Guilt, Anger, Greed, Jealousy. It's proven to be a very productive series. :)

So hubby decided last night what he's most likely preaching on this fall. He will title it "Forsaking a Lesser Gospel" - and will address some of the falsehoods of the Christian faith. (Like "asking Jesus into your heart" kind of thing) :)

Sounds good. My then 4 yo nephew once asked his mother if he prayed would Jesus come into his heart. She said "yes". He started hitting his chest and said, "Well get him out of there." I always think of that when i hear that said. :saint:

I'd be interested in hearing some of the other falsehoods he will deal with.

LOL - Me too! I'm sure when we're on vacation, we'll be thinking through some of them that we've heard. Maybe I should start a thread and see what you guys say too!! :)

Genealogy of Jesus Christ following Mathew's genealogy. I started last December. We've made it to Jacob (Matthew 1:2). I'll let you know when we've moved on.

It might only be two verses out of Matthew but it represents 30+ chapters in Genesis.

You've just gotta appreciate God's Grace in dealing with all the perfectly flawed and broken folks in Jesus' family tree. Most folks encounter with the patriarchs is limited to flannel graph cut outs from Sunday school 50 years ago.

The reception has been encouraging. Folks can identify with the struggles and failures of the Abrahamic family. They've been studying ahead, asking questions and sharing their own testimonies of seeing grace upon grace.

I figured there had to be more to the story. I agree. I love preaching and teaching from the OT stories.

Sunday morning- continuing through Romans. Four months in and we're just wrapping up chapter 4.

Sunday night- we have small groups at the college. Topics focused on relationships and purity issues

Wednesday night Bible study - going through John. Same as Romans- four months in... etc.

Thursday noon we have a Bible study at the college. Going to have Fruit of the Spirit as the theme this year. Each month the study will focus on a different fruit - love, joy, peace, etc.
