They've taken the House of God and turned it into the house of Hollywood wannabes. Shameful.

Thought it was hilarious. I'd use it during announcements except for the church tag at the end.

We have tried all sorts of things to get people to mute their cell phones.

Wouldn't work in our church- too many use them for a Bible. Plus we are a deaf church, so - ringing phones? Meh. Movement disturbs us. Noise, not so much.

I don't know. Maybe the fact that they use technology during their services?

Some people find technology offensive. Just a guess.

We ask people to turn off their cellphones. We have slides. We occasionally say something.

But people don't listen. They don't care.

The only time we specifically stand there and wait, and make it overtly obvious is for a funeral or wedding.

    And they still go off.

I've tried to install cellphone blockers that make it so no signal gets to their cellphone, but people didn't like that idea. So, we just deal with it.

Cell phones are how we call our pastors.

    That's CAlifornia!

This was an internal message the church shows before it's service. It serves a purpose.

    Now, that impresses me!

I know of a major deaf church in the Riverside ,CA area. I think the ministry is much needed and a true blessing to the hearing impaired.
Thanks for your work to promote the Gospel to ALL people!

We send text messages to our pastor during the sermon so we can tell him how he misapplied that last passage of Scripture he just (tried) to explain.

    LOL!! :D

Okay, actually we don't, but in a service of about 1200 or so, I bet there are one or two folks who would like to shoot a text the pastors way.

We have slides projecting announcements on the screens before the services begin and one of them asks people to please turn the ringer off. Not asking to turn the phone itself off, just the ringer. Pretty successful for the most part although every now and then a beep or two, or a ringtone is heard.

    :)
