There have been many self imposed characteristics of Calvinists on this board that are nothing but a myth.

Being a Calvinist does not mean one is arrogant. Being a Calvinist does not mean we admire and respect people like Paul Washer. In fact, he is the most arrogant, self-centered person I ever saw walk in the doors of our church, and he will never return. Being a Calvinist does not mean we think Arminians are lost or preaching a false Gospel.

Not all cals are arrogant. I list less than a handful on this board, (you, mexdeaf, ann, tom) but it is a well known problem among cals. So much so that even cals have had to face up to it and deal with it.

I think to a degree you are correct. The mystery to me is why this issue and Bible versions stand out amongst hundreds of issues to generate so much heat. I appreciate your comments.

It is ironic that in a thread I started years ago about Arminians I admire, some folks still believed I hated Arminians and that I thought they were lost. But I think it was pure evil on their part to say such things.

Well, it is certainly a watering-down of the Gospel. I believe in the full Gospel --no,not of the Pentecostal variety.

You do not understand why the Calvinist/Arminian debate causes so much heat? Then you do not understand the differences between them, they are HUGE.

Calvinists and Non-Cal/Arminians are not teaching the same gospel whatsoever, and they do not represent the same God.

The same with Bible versions, if you do not understand the heat, then you do not understand the real issue.

If you don't get it, no one can explain it to you.

Why is heat so important to you? Isn't light a more noble goal?

I understand the differences much better than you do based on the quality of your posts. If you think that is a saved/lost divider, then why are you here?

And you have the gall to call us arrogant?

I agree with your assessment above from beginning to end SN.

As to the OP, the accusation is much the same as the liberals tactic: when losing a debate liberals pull the race card. When an anti-cal is losing or simply starting a fight they pull the arrogant card. Frankly I've seen more arrogance and snotty attitudes stemming from the anti-cal side on BB than from the reformed side.

I thought anyone could participate in these debates, no?

And where did I say Calvinists are arrogant?

Heat is not important to me, truth is.

If you want to be a Calvinist, that is fine with me, you have a right to believe anything you want. But if folks try to teach others that Calvinism is what the scriptures teach, I am going to step in and say something, people should see an alternate point of view. Then they can make up their own minds what they believe the scriptures say.

Believe me, I get very tired of arguing with Calvinists.

What's wrong with being anti-Cal if you sincerely believe it is error?

Some people are arrogant. Let's break that down a bit.

    Some Arminians are arrogant.

    Some Universalists are arrogant.

    Some Open Theists are arrogant.

    Some Baptists are arrogant.

    Some Presbyterians are arrogant.

    Some Methodists are arrogant.

And yes - some Calvinists are arrogant.

There are many people in the above named groups that are not arrogant.

I like the line from the movie "Gettysburg" when Kevin Conway's character (Kilrain) said, "Any man who judges by the group is a pee wit".

This post is generally true, but the fact remains that Calvinists have a real reputation for being arrogant as the many different articles Rev Mitchell showed on that Google search.

Even Calvinists have admitted this is a common problem among Calvinists.

This guy is a Calvinist who thought it was an unfair criticism that Reformed believers are arrogant, until he happened to find out it was true.

    Own it, it's yours.

I think this post renders the op as only being partially true.

You just made a blanket statement about a man I admire. Now I would like you to back it up? Also, what makes a Calvinist in your eyes?
