    Really does not matter what you call it, it is what law defines. I would say it would practically be impossible with even some individual states wanting to split into two parts. Also, the geography is not contiguous.

    How is it treason to oppose an illegitimate government? To say opposing this government is treason is the same as saying protecting and defending the constitution is treason.

    I agree that it is very unlikely to happen, but if/when the federal govt finally collapses, who knows. We'd probaly see at least 4-5 regional confederations rather than just a binary blue state-red state division or a north-south division.

    So then, it's not the secession, itself, you object to, but the idea of another civil war?

    What if the secession was peaceful? Would you still be against it, then?
