Lost my good paying job 2 weeks ago and it would have been the job to pay off my large credit card debts. I worked hard and did what I was told, but it was not a christian friendly environment, and they wanted too much time from the family which I did not desire. Then I sprained my lower back saturday and am still recovering. I am beginning to think I am in sin, or satan is after me. If I am living in sin I am not sure what I am doing, but yes I do sin everyday, but I dont believe I am living in sin and I have asked God to reveal things to me if I am. Perhaps these are just trials and hardships that all of us face, or perhaps Satan is after me.

Well he was after Job and God gave him permission to do what he wished except take his life. I am no Job nor have I faced anything remotely close to his hardships. I know that being a street evangelist and open air preacher I imagine the spiritual attacks would be stronger on me than most Christians whom do friendship evangelism and are not bold in their witness. I also sometime will challenge liberals, homosexuals, cults, Satanists, Wiccans, New Agers, and other workers of satan from the internet. Perhaps Satan really hates me for the emails that I send to these types. Perhaps so, perhaps so. What say you?

Trials and tribulations are part of the Christian life. Of course satan is after you. He is after each and every one of us. I can sympathize with what you are going through. Went from being completely debt free and 2 good paying jobs, our home paid off... to workplace accident, permanent condition as a result, losing both of our jobs while my wife was 8 months pregnant, failed business, restrictions placed due to condition, lack of fulltime work, another surprise baby (while using methods to not have any more kids) and a mound of debt that will bankrupt us one day. Satan really hates me! :). I praise God through it all as He allowed it for some reason or another.

You have so many jobs and then quit for one reason or another, I question why you ever got married in the first place. I worked for forty years in jobs that were not Christian friendly and I hated some of them but I was married and had two kids and I believe in providing for my family. My advice is get off your lazy butt and go to work.

I'd say you need to sit your butt still and stop acting like a hypochondriac. Stuff happens because God allows it to. Talk to HIM and stop worrying so much about cryptic reasons behind why. Ask HIM to use it to grow you and to reveal more of Himself to you out of it.

You can let these things consume you and REALLY open the door for the devil to get a foothold and pull you into fits of depression. Or you can grab the bull by the horns and realize that you have not been "attacked" to the point of death on a cross. So suck it up, turn it over to Jesus, and hang in there. Your tank is filled with the highest grade fuel available.

Don't ever let the enemy convince you that any weapon formed against you is gonna be able to prosper no matter how many waves it comes in.

The devil whispers in you ear when you let him. The problem is he seems to have your full attention. Next time your driving down the road and he starts talking in your ear open the door a shove him out and hope he breaks his neck when he rolls out!

I'll not pile on with the un-Christlike comments and pray both you and Webdog all the mercy you can handle from the Almighty. God bless.

I won't pretend to know someone else's troubles and what it is like to walk in your shoes. I may disagree a lot with both of you on several issues, but we all need to love on each other to keep Satan squashed.

Oh definitely the devil lol. He used to ride with me all the time filling my head up with all kinds of silly stuff until I decided it was my truck and it was in my name and he wasn't welcomed so I opened the door and forced him out head first

This Just Came in My Study Time...

....I think it is perfect for you at this moment in your walk!

1 Cor. 1:3-7 (NLT), "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us."

Thanks for the encouragement brother. Yeah I know Satan is after us and hates Christians. I was sorta raised on the "God has a wonderful plan for your life message" and if you are walking in the spirit all will go well for you. I know that is a false message or a half true message, its just sometimes my mind inclines towards it, but I need to be reminded of its falseness.

Very good advice Rick and I thank you. I cannot even come close to WebDog's problems and it would be unwise and unloving to only look at myself and not others.

Very good passage of scripture brother (bye the way its 2 Cor). I am gonna read it in my NIV & ESV. Thank you! Sometimes the dynamic translations like the NLT or NIV read better than the literal versions.

2 Cor 1:3-7 (ESV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.[a] 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

2 Cor 1:3-7 (NIV)3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

This is false. I had some job offers but they wanted sunday work everyweek and I could not do it. I have another interview for a 1st shift job today and no sundays and Lord willing I will get it if its His will.

Also I do not appreciate your sarcasm and unchrist-like tone. I am looking for a job everyday man. You need to stop your instant judgments and learn to show love towards others man.

I remember working 3rd shift, got off work at six a.m. tried to sleep a couple of hours go to church preach a message, back home, get a couple more hours sleep and back to church. This was during the time my off day's were in the week days. I was a working preacher like Paul that never charged for my preaching

Some are forced into such a lifestyle because they are in prison. However such a life is not a choice, nor is it Biblical. For one not everyone can survive on a few hours sleep which is harmful to the body and not a way to be productive on the job. Also we are to be in church every sunday if possible or as much as possible. We get this example not from books I could recommend that you will not read, but from the example in the book of Acts. The books I would recommend just better explain and give commentary on the example in Acts. Note I am aware some need to work sundays, and thats why I would agree on a rotation on sundays, and not working every sunday.

The only thing that has kept me sane is knowing everything is in His hands, and even this season will pass, either during this life or after. Slight affliction compared to what many go through.

I was not incarcerated, I worked there, however I did eventually get Sundays off but it took time. You are like so many more in this generation, you don't want to start at the bottom and work your way up, you want to start at the top. As far as my work record is concerned I got straight fives on my evaluations. As far as my health is concerned I am sixty five now, been retired six years, in good health ride horses all the time and run beagles.[IMG]

You don't know him from Adam, how dare you tell him what he wants and question his work ethic. So you got good work evaluations and ride a horse...yippee. The work place is not the same as it was 30 years ago. Gone are the days of getting an entry level job and staying with a company your whole life receiving a nice pension at the end (unless a public employee). With your attitude, the modern day employment environment would chew you up and spit you out.

The frequency of prideful, antagonistic preachers and 'pastors' on this site sickening.
