Thanks for this thread Salty. Well I am not sure what they will be doing, however I will add what should be done is evangelism. Chick Tracts, Way of the Master, and other ministries have produced lots of good tracts to give to kids when they approach the door and I plan to use some. However Chick Tracts prefers to scare people into heaven with their Fire & Brimstone approach, still some of their tracts have been useful on dealing with the occultism of the Holliday. Halloween is a great time to witness as Satan and his devils come out into the open. Satan's birthday is Halloween and this is a great day to witness. Some Christians avoid the Holiday which I think is foolish.

I would not however carve pumpkins because then you would be associating with the occultism of the practice.

 

I think that church is foolish for doing such a thing and is associating with the occultism of the holiday. We must not play with the occult. Halloween is satan's holiday and he is not to be celebrated.

 

Last year was really the first time I did anything for Halloween. Previous to this I was either working my 1600 - midnight shift at AT&T/BellSouth's Network Reliability Center in Brentwood TN or (as was the case in 2011) trying to recover from my rather debilitating stroke.

I didn't really know how many kids to expect, but about 20 or so showed up. I gave them all some KitKats and one or both of the Halloween tracts that I bought from LifeWay.

Hopefully the children (+ Mom & Dad!) read them and thought about their relationship with Jesus Christ. :thumbsup:

 

We do trunk or treat. Parents appreciate having a safe place for their kids to get dressed and get candy. We try to make a big deal and take pictures of the family.

 

Last year a woman wore a Nancy Pelosi mask. Crime has gone down to nearly zilch.

This year she plans on wearing a Hilary mask.

 

You allow people to wear such frightening masks. Those kids are probably scarred for life. Those 2 make Zombies and twilight into bed time stories!

I've lived through 29 halloweens and haven't turned to satanism yet. You can find the devil in just about anything if you look hard enough. There's alot of Satan on TV and the Internet so maybe we should throw them out and boycott.

Halloween is just some fun for kids. If you can't enjoy Halloween and give candy to kids at the door then you should throw your tv away and cut off the Internet because there's more satan in them than kids wearing goblin costumes.

"Occultic" influences of halloween appear to be more of a "modern" view. Apparently the earliest influences go back to the pre-christian celtic clans of Ireland. In reality, such a celebration had many influences regarding seasonal change and the harvest. There is also "christian" influence in the history.

I have no problems with candy, fun, or dressing up. I have a HUGE problem with Christians participating in the glorification of satanic images, demons, vampires, etc. "Woe to you who calls evil good and good evil..."

 

I would literally hand out materials from Saddleback church (YUCK!) before I handed out Chick tracts.... I am particularly un-fond of their "Modern versions are of the devil" tracts...

 

Yes I disagree with them there, as well as their Arminianism. However they do preach the correct gospel.

 

Trunk or treat. Our community looks forward to the event. Held at church, pass out tons of candy, pickles, cotton candy, pop corn and lemonade. Lots of games and several bounce houses. Costume contests are also a part of the day. Everyone receives an invite to church with a card and pen that has our contact info and bibles are available for anyone who would like one.
